2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
For those of us that grew up in a certain era, we had access to some pretty cool used cars when were young. I bought this when I was 20 years old. Not my first car but my first decent car! 😂

The second car I bought with my own money - '69 RoadRunner, 426 Hemi, automatic.

I haven't owned that many cars since I tend to keep them for a while. I had the RR above for 12 years.
Below are some of the others I've owned.

My first fun car was a 1995 Ford Taurus SHO with a 5 speed manual (my second car and first manual). The engine was a V6 made by Yamaha and it had a set of intake runners where valves would open around 4K rpms. It was Americas swing at the Germans.

It was fun to drive, comfortable, and nobody knew what it was. In many ways the 4BW reminds me of it, though vastly superior in pretty much every respect (to be expected after ~20 years of automotive improvement).

I remember!

I knew the Taurus SHO well as my second car was a 1999 Supercharged MR2 with T-tops. Its engine was also designed/made by Yamaha. Both were great cars. I really loved that MR2.I had many great long distance drives in that car - often in the mountains and back roads toying with the bikes and other fast cars. Won some and lost some...but all great fun.

The first car I ever bought for myself was a 1981 Toyota Starlet....a small RWD MT hatchback. I paid $5900 cash for it after working a full summer as a co-op for the US Government. It was nimble and super fun, pretty quick (but not necessarily fast)...had a lot of fun with that car. I kept it well into the 1990s (eventually let our live in nanny drive it) after recovering it from salvage in LA after getting hit 3 times in a 2 month period - all in my left front. I eventually collected from all 3 and recovered more than I originally paid for the car (which I used for a down payment on the MR2). It ended up a 3 tone car as I never painted it after the repairs.

I drove it cross country twice - in 1982 from Baltimore to LA in 4 days - with some great stories....eluding a lit up Park Ranger in the Grand Canyon at 2 AM (after leaving the bar there at closing) driving without lights and not using my brakes. Stayed up all night drinking with friends...set out for Vegas the next morning (in an ice storm in the mountains with jack-knifed trucks everywhere etc) and pulled into my hotel parking spot with 77,777.7 miles on the odo....It was a sign...stayed up all night playing blackjack - won 2K+...never went to bed/sleep...then (after being up 2 nights straight) drove to LA following the same storm which flooded the desert and spawned a tornado that took the roof off the convention center...My trip back to DC area in 1987 was uneventful.

Prior to getting my Starlet I drove my folk's 1972 Toyota Corona - MT. Its body panels were rusted and separated from the frame where I had to use a crowbar to bend back the steel on the front quarters to be able to open the front doors. It looked a mess - but drove OK. On the last day I had it before turning it back over to the folks I drove the entire way from DC to Baltimore up I-95 pinned at 95 MPH. About halfway I saw a cop on the side of the road tagging me with his radar gun. I never slowed down...but waited for the pursuit that never came. I don't think he could believe his reading - no way such a junker could go that fast....lol.

First car was a 1973 dodge coronet(318 auto) 4dr w/56k miles. That was in 1996. Second car was a 1988 trans am gta in '97.
My 5bw is now around car number 105.
At least you aren't shocked by the poor gas mileage in the 5 BW.

My dad had a 1978 Camaro Rally Sport - MT - that I got to drive now and again. It was a bit of a cop magnet....but I was able to talk my way out of 3 tickets at least (and never got pinned with one in it).

An Uncle of mine had an old Dodge from that era (could have been a Coronet but not sure). The floorboard in the passenger seat was missing (completely rusted out) and he just had a board laying across it. It was thrilling in the passenger seat....not knowing when a rock was going to fly up and hit you....but I wouldn't call it exactly pleasant...

My 1st 2 used cars were a 1968 Ford Torino GT and then a 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible. Both stick.

My 1st new vehicle was a 1979 Yamaha RD400F Daytona Special.

Y'all had some cool cars here. @Roadhawk , no wonder your wife doesn't want you telling your kids about your youth!

My friends in high school all drove the stuff posted above, but I was into VW's and my high school ride was a '65 21 window bus. Sold it in the early 1990's and never saw it again...until a few years ago and a guy from the Netherlands contacts me on Facebook with a picture of the pink slip I signed over and says, "Is this you?" and explains he has my bus and has restored it. Social media is mostly poison but that was cool.

My best friend owned one of these and I drove it on many occasions. They were an absolute blast to drive, and the engine was glorious.

2000-2013: '98 Integra LS, heavily modded for autocross
2009-2015: '01 M5
2013-2016: '02 S2000

2018-present: '07 Elise
2021-2022: '20 Civic Type R

All manuals. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of light, quick-enough RWD sports cars and athletic, RWD sedan dailies. I think I have the best of each now.

A good buddy of mine still has two of these...at one point he owned 20+ Volkswagen's (at the same time...mostly Beetles). One of the two is still in good shape. In 1984 he, along with some other of our friends, did a several month around the country trip in it where they did a parking lot engine rebuild and several other on the road repairs.

This restore is great...funny it ending up in Holland...
