Radar detectors are basically useless in this age. Most departments use Laser and I used it for many years and the drivers were pissed that they wasted money on their detectors and still got caught. The detector will only alert you after you have been tagged. By then its too late.

Hands down, the best way to detect cops is to monitor vehicles in front of you going around corners and over hills, if you see random brake lights.. there's a cop around that corner.

I was trained in both RADAR and LIDAR. Never used RADAR because it was not anywhere near as accurate as LIDAR. LIDAR is like shooting a gun. I put the reticle (red dot) on a car and pulled the trigger. 1/3rd of a second response and completely accurate. You can't out run the speed of light. NEVER lost a case that LIDAR was used. You could use a laser jammer , but they are illegal and the operator will know if it is being jammed. Used to have the Cobra radar detectors years ago and always got false hits from supermarket automatic doors. At least with these cars , you can out run the cop and he ain't gonna catch you !! ****(This poster does NOT recommend violating local traffic laws.)
