Round 13 for the GT cars is coming up this weekend at Sonoma, California.

Johnny O'Connell has a narrow 13 point lead over James Sofronas in the Audi R8 so this race could see a change in Driver Championship standings.

Cadillac has a 19 point lead over Audi in the Manufacturer standings also.

Johnny has fallen out of a couple of races this season due to accidents that put holes in the radiator. Let's hope nothing like that happens this coming weekend. Also, the SCCA "tweaks" the cars between each race trying to even up the competition. Last race it looked like the Volvo's got a little advantage. Let's hope the Cadillacs don't get "tweaked" the wrong way for Sonoma.

I've never understood why they 'penalize' the cars that win, by making them add weight. Hopefully Johnny loses some of the added weight, by not placing well during the last sessions. Would like to see him and Cadillac win the championships again this year!!

Well, first practice is over and it looks like the Cadillacs didn't get tweaked too bad. Andy and Johnny were the fastest and the only cars under 1:36. Let's hope this performance continues.

Air temp was only 57

Second practice in the afternoon had an air temperature of 70. No one was in the 1:35's. Sofronas was fastest at 1:36.223, Pobst second at 1:36.364 with Johnny third at 1:37.794. Andy was a little farther back with a 1:37. Guess the AWD cars like the warmer weather better than the RWD Caddies.

More practice today.

Qualifying

Well, Team Cadillac found their way back into the 1:35s during qualifying. In Practice 1, they were the only ones below 1:36. In the second and third practice sessions, no one got into the 1:35s. In qualifying, Johnny and Andy found the 1:35s again and will start on the front row for the race today. Pobst round the 1:35s also and will start 3rd in the Volvo.

Spoiler Alert

Andy Pilgrim wins the GT race - start to finish. There was lots of fenders being bent along the way in this race. Johnny O'Connell stalled at the start and never was a factor.

Skeen finished second on the track but there may be a black flag issue for him.
