2024 CT4 V Blackwing 6MT
Hey guys...Happy and proud to finally post this. I took delivery of my brand new 2024 CT4 V Blackwing about a week ago, 227 days after walking into the dealership initially. Summit white, satin graphite wheels, red calipers and belts, and a 6 speed manual. Not the cheapest way to own one but it was everything I wanted on the car. I love it more and more every time I look at it and drive it. My odo just ticked over 500 miles so I'm going to start opening it up a little bit.

Congratulations and welcome.

We like pictures!

Thank you!

Remember that recommended break in is 1500 miles per the owners manual.

Right. Not planning on going crazy, slowly ramping up the rpms, and certainly won't try the no lift till then at least. As far as I know it's active above 5000 rpms and wide open throttle, none of which I've applied yet.

There is conflicting recommendations for my first oil change though...

Congratulations, beautiful blackwing and pics!! I'm definitely sticking to the recommended 1500 miles. May i ask about what you've heard about the rec for the first oil change?

Thank you and thank you. I've heard guys doing it after 500 miles, 650(that number was interesting), but the majority were in agreement at 1500.

First oil change is a long debated topic without a consensus. Do whatever makes you feel better. I am sticking with 1,500 miles, but definitely nothing wrong with changing oil earlier. If you plan tracking the car changing differential fluid and bleeding the brakes is a must.

What oil are you guys using? Anyone know what oil it is filled with at the factory? Mobil?

Factory fill for the 4V BW is Mobil1 5W-30. Any Dexos1 Gen3 approved oil brand is acceptable. My personal choice is Castrol Syntec.

I've tended to go with Motul for my high revving modified engines...but any high quality synthetic is probably pretty much good enough for most cars. I'd probably stick with the 5W-30 for the BWs though...

Yeah 5W-30 is a definite, I have seen so much discourse online about not all 5W-30 synthetics being made equal, but I guess that's what the Dexos rating is for, to weed out the garbage. I like the idea of using the same stuff the factory uses...but I guess you ask is the factory using that cause its the best or the most economical lol
