The tape was mostly for the OEM fitment, since the spoiler is meant to be raised off the body. The double sided is not intended to be waterproof though. You want air to be able to get in there to dry out any water, and also for water to be able to run out and avoid puddling.Can you update those of us that received units before the correct fitment was discovered where the thicker tape should go?
worried now about water intruding under the spoiler and getting into trunk lid if the originally provided tape is too thin to seal.
For the decklid stud/nut use a little bit of RTV silicone on the nut when you install it, or you can grab small rubber washers from the local hardware store. You can probably grab 6 of them for $3
