What did you do to your Blackwing today?

I ended up turning the audio record off from my PDR. After going back to review some videos, I wasn't impressed with my commentary and decided I'm better off keeping that to myself. I do wish I had the audio on the night my neighbor was out walking her cat and yelled at me to slow down. After review I was doing exactly the speed limit. And yes, a neighbor walks her cat.
LOL....on 2 levels. We used to walk our cat using a leash....but just around our (1/2 acre) yard. I get it - its a little weird. But now we go out with her without a leash and she pretty much stays in our yard and more often than not sticks around us. This works for me as I can be out doing garden stuff and not worry about her wandering off or getting attacked by the foxes (and sometimes hawks) that frequent our property. We had two foxes nestled down in one of our strawberry patches two night ago.

And a few years ago I had someone in our neighborhood yell at me to slow down and I was doing exactly 25 mph. I told her so and some other stuff too as I recall. I love driving fast and do so out on the highways etc - but always with situational awareness, I never speed in neighborhoods - never. I'm almost always chill and one of the slowest drivers in my neighborhood and in residential areas in general.

  • Differential fluid change
  • Tire rotation
  • Took her to car wash
A cheapo pump for the fluid from Amazon made quick work of filing the pumpkin. Got a Turner Titanium Magnetic Differential Drain Plug that was listed on another post. I'm about 5k miles late on changing the diff fluid but it came out looking pristine.

Dog owner here. Never had a cat but did date a super hot chick cat person once that turned out to be a mistake..
The neighbor is the one that will complain about everything. I swear every neighborhood has one.

My neighbor has called me the most unfriendly person he ever met. He never spoke to me or said hi in 25 years or even waved back at me. My major transgression. I never cleaned snow on his driveway in winter. The guy has his own snowblower. Went should I do it for him? Is it my fault he’s too incompetent to know when to use it?

Are you my neighbor? I don't even know any of them besides the one right next door. Thankfully he has racecar so he usually takes any blame for loud exhaust noises.

Ordered an oil change kit from Jeg's Automotive for my BW5. The kit consists of 8 quarts of Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 oil and an AC Delco PF64 filter. Ordered 2 extra quarts of oil. The total was only $117.89 plus tax and shipping. Not a bad deal!

The car takes 9 qts? Why did their kit only include 8?

I assume it's because a BW5 isn't the only vehicle to use this combination of oil and filter.

Oddly, some of our cars take 8 quarts, some take 9 quarts.

Mine takes 8 FWIW

Had an exhaust built for my CT4-V Blackwing. Kept the stock tips and valves, Magnaflow straight through performance muffler on the non-valved side, straight-piped on the other. Out for a drive this afternoon and loving the increase in sound.

Oil & filter change. Had 9% left on the oil life indicator. I had to add 2 qts of oil when the indicator was at 18%. I guess I need to keep a better eye out on my oil level.

I had the a-hole tech check, double check & triple check the correct oil & the amount of oil put in.

This was my 1st oil change with the Fumoto valve. While it is convenient, it took ~1 hour for the the oil to drain out completely (stop dripping).

That valve is like a cult. I don't get it, but people are passionate about them once installed.

I have the Fumoto valve installed in 2 of my cars. It just makes it easier/faster and less mess . You don't really need any tools to change your oil, other than maybe a filter wrench. I don't over tighten mine and can unscrew them with a little effort by hand. I believe a Gorilla installs the first oil filter at the factory !
Here is a question. Since the CT5-V Blackwings take "Super Car " oil and there really aren't that many BW's with superchargers out there. I was wondering if I should get proof from my dealership that they actually put "super car" oil in , during an oil change. Does the C8 Corvette use the same type of oil. I could just see the dealer using whatever oil they have on hand and not using the "super car" oil because they don't get many Blackwings in for service. My dealer says that they don't service too many 5BW's.
*** I actually just checked my last dealership oil change paperwork and it does state "super car " 8.8 quarts used at $12.95 per quart.

The C8 Stingray & Eray use the same Mobile 1 0W-40 Super Car oil as the 5BW. They even use the same AC Delco filter. I know this bc I had a '23 Corvette HTC Stingray and did the majority of oil changes myself. Makes sense because they essentially share the same motor.

If your local Caddy dealer doesn't have the oil on hand when you show up for an oil change, they can probably easily source it from a nearby Chevy dealership.
