What driving mode do yall use for heavy rain on public streets?

I'm not sure if I should use Snow/Ice, PTM-Wet, or just leave it in Tour.

I had some scary hydroplaning despite all the computer nannies in V mode not too long ago, so clearly that's not the one to use lol.

Usually Track for me in the Pacific Northwest. Hydroplaning is independent of PTM mode.

Just watched a You Tube video about performance Cadillacs. It said to drive in "SPORT" mode for everyday local traffic and "TOUR" mode for highway driving to get the best mpg results. I just drove my BW5 home from storage, about 75 miles one way and was averaging about 23 mpg in tour mode.

Snow/ice is the most proactive intervention the computers can provide. It also limits throttle response and torque to limit the wheel slip as much as possible. You get shown this at Spring Mountain.

I don't think any available mode can address hydroplane issues since it's mostly a function of tires and the PS4S isn't really a great heavy rain tire.

Snow & Ice mode will give best mpg on the highway. I can get 26-27 mpg here in flat Florida. The fat tires with a not too deep tread will hydroplane more. Only remedy for that is to slow down when really wet.

In heavy rain, I’ll switch my Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing into Snow/Ice mode. It softens throttle tip-in and overall response, which makes it less likely to spin the tires or step the rear out.

Even with the manual transmission, it helps take some of the edge off torque delivery—especially on initial throttle application. It’s basically a built-in buffer for low-grip conditions.

Just one point: ANY PTM mode, any of them, will have less nannies than your normal tour, snow/ice, sport, or straight track.

PTM wet means you're on a track that is wet. It will in no way benefit you in wet weather on the street.

I stay in touring mode all the time unless I want to drive spirited, and then I switch to Sport or V Mode (which I have setup with all track settings except the suspension which I never go above Sport setting since I lowered the car on Eibach springs). Wet or dry, same settings.

In the PNW on a CT5-V Blackwing I use:

• Freeway: Tour > My Mode w/ exhaust at its lowest, seat massager on
• General use: PTM-Sport
• Rain: PTM-Wet

I run PTM-Wet in the rain because ignition/fuel cut happens often and sounds nasty.
