Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

On Saturday I installed the Vueroid S1 Infinite front and rear dashcam system along with a BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 battery. I have been waiting for a long time for this camera to be released. - A new offering from a Korean company. The build quality seems much better than the Viofo camera I have. I have the battery under the driver seat, sort of. It does stick into the rear footwell area some due to low clearance of the seat motors. Front and rear camera install was very straightforward, same as most cars. Remove the A-pillar trim, being careful around the airbags. Route cables up under the headliner. The battery was more difficult as I had to route the power wires under the carpet and under the seat mounting rail. A coat hanger bent appropriately did the job.

For those interested in power taps, the two circles in the photo are unused accessory power taps. They are to the left of the two large blue fuses (the left one being removed for better access). I use one for my radar detector and laser jammer and the other for the dashcam setup. The space is very tight so I made a fuse tap.

added a carbon performance steering wheel to a car without the performance wheel. Had to tap some wires to get the drive mode selector to work. Made it so the big V mode button is my new start/stop button

Oil 492 mIles on odometer
3 hours later in the driveway crawling under and about.
Jacked the car with ZL1addons Stealth Lift Pads (good fitment. could not have jacked without them today). Jacked up onto 4" Raceramps. So, it's possible (not**) to crawl under there with a 4 lifted and get at the filter. No way could I jack the car up 10" for the 10" blocks. 4" was about it with two floor jacks (tires hang down as the jack goes up).
**see undertaker pic - I had the floor jack lifting the body higher than 4"/the tires were on 4" ramp. (/derp)

Factory filled oil has that green! to it. And SMELLS like tire rubber! Been a while (never?) since I smelled factory filled oil. Very distinct rubber note. Nice.

Fitted a magnetic Goldplug, with a crush washer at 18ftlbs.

Not that exciting except the low mileage.

The extractor didn't work because the tube - I think there might be a baffle in the pan just below the dipstck. I could get some oil but mostly air. The tube wouldn't go deep into the pan, it felt/was blocked. Reason for the extractor is that my oil drain pan is too small. I resorted to half draining, stopping to dump the pan, then finishing the drain and then let it drip a while. Fun but no prob. Then I threw a 1/2 quart of fresh in the fill hole to see if it would drip down and flush a little leftover. It did drip down through the engine, straight away - it ran right through even at 50degF and I saw nice clear oil.

This sub 500 mile oil (11% per odometer/year old car) was black.as.licorice (Pan1photo) Second drain pan was browner and that green stuff "floating" to the top. The car had sat quite awhile (weeks) so it was very settled. The first pan dump was really dark (really dark, surprised me), the second pan dump was much browner. The green surfaced as in photo.

Pre-filled the filter..had never did that before. OCD. That took a while! it kept soaking up the oil, was kinda funny.

Today, our Tri-State Cadillac V-Club members went for a beautiful fall drive up the Hudson River around West Point area. Put over 225 miles on mine in one day....a new record!
I really miss driving around in that area -- Seven Lakes Drive, Bear Mtn, the run up to West Point, road up to the fire tower off Seven Lakes -- especially this time of year! VERY Jelly!
