What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Some statement...don't know what to say. I'm somewhat surprised but maybe I shouldn't be.

I have to say I extol the virtues of my CT 4 V BW every chance I get in response to numerous inquiries about the car. (most with people commenting on the pretty color...or oooh a Cadillac or some such)....a few people get it though (but most of them are thinking its the CT 5 V BW) lol

Not trying to take anything away from the 911. It's a fantastic car.
I've taken this thing to the mountains quite a few times and the control and capability of the car is insane.
I never slow down for entry/exit ramp turns. I actually accelerate in to them because the grip levels are impossible to understand.
The ownership/dealership experience is on a completely different level as well. They actually treat you well. They don't just collect your car with attitude like your being an inconvenience to them, making them actually do work. Then send you away to figure out how to get home.
If I had to fault the 911 on something it would be the ride compliance. Yes I'm not confused, it's a 911, it's a sports car at it's core, so the ride will be on the firm side of things. It's not terrible but it's not great depending on the road surface. Also, it's loud as hell inside, not from engine noise but road noise.

The BW is just different. I miss the ride quality, the 6MT (yes it is actually better than the 7MT in the 911, like loads better), the quietness of the cabin (after being in the 911, the BW is Lexus level of quiet), the power and the sound of the V8 and the drama you can manufacture from the car if you REALLY wanted to get crazy with it. Yeah for sure the BW doesn't have the level of grip/cornering capability of the nibble 911, but it was also no slouch considering it's weight. I drove the BW in to corners harder than I should have multiple times and it dealt with them. Just not as hard as I can with the 911.

Either way. Both cars are fantastic and both fill different roles.

BUT, if I wanted to be honest with myself. Without question I'd have the BW back in my driveway.

Go figure the dealer just got back to me and essentially offered a straight swap from my Blackwing into that M5. That thing must really be tanking. All logic tells me to do it, but then I'm stuck with the tank!

Yeah I literally can't get with the new BMW design choices. Not a single BMW right now looks good to me. Maybe the M8. But that's still a hard pass for me.

My take is to not do the trade. As good as it sounds - and as powerful and capable the M5 is - I think you'd (I mean swoop) would regret you made that trade.

Seems like (many of us) you value fun factor....and the BMW will not likely be as fun as the BW in ways that you will get on a daily basis....ok sweet Corinthian leather etc I get it...but really now...your a driver...and greater power levels are only able to be employed so much up to a point (not knocking it) - but other aspects of fulfilling driving will come into play more often and those of us who get this know what matters and choose and drive accordingly. But yeah....you can always enjoy polishing that badge...

As for current BMWs that I think I could really enjoy now...the M440 Z4 (MT) would be worthy...otherwise I don't covet any of them and could think of several Honda or Mazda products I'd rather be driving....

I bought a bottle of SONAX PPF / Vinyl detailer. It was highly recommended for the PPF to act as a wax. Even though I have ceramic coating over my PPF'd front end, the water doesn't repel like a good wax would. I will try it out when the sun decides to make an appearance around here. I can also use it on my billboards on my Challenger.

@FLYARMY ...FWIW...Mine was ceramic coated and PPF'd. I use Adam's Graphene CS3 after washing or as a detail spray on the whole car. Easy on, easy off, beads like crazy and looks great.

Today has been 2 days straight of rain. 2 days ! Today we had a good deluge for about 2 hours. AND.....guess what I did today after the rain departed and the bright thing in the sky started to poke its head out? I spent the rest of the afternoon drying my interior out after leaving the driver window down about 4 inches !!!!! Wait, I left out a few, !-!-!-!-! Mother F'r ! It could have been worse if I had left it down completely. Now my sky cool grey interior has damp ass and I spent a few hours vacuuming , blowing compressor air and hot air dryer blowing out my seat and carpets. I am tempted to spray some WD-40 onto the seat rails so I don't get any surface rust, but then I will have the odor for a while.
If I did not have bad luck, I would have no luck. Today is Tuesday and the window has been down since Sunday !! Mother F'r !!!!!
****Moral of the story : don't leave your windows down for any reason and check on your BW daily ! And get a house with a garage.

Exoforma ceramic detailed after a wash does a great job of beading wzter on my car. I have full front ppf and a ceramic coating.
