V academy

Yep, mine are 22 and 29. And...we have to find something to do in Vegas, before and after.

I was able to book a non-stop flight on Southwest leaving at 8:25 PM back to Houston Hobby.

I'm too scared to even look at southwest with all their baggage right now (sorry, had to include the young dad pun).

The last 30 min or so is when they announce who won the autocross, present everyone their certificate, and you get to thank the instructors. The whole schedule is prettty regimented and packed to get you done right at 4p. By the time I pack up my stuff, go get my wife at the clubhouse, and it the road it’s at least 4:30.

If you leave earlier than that you’ll miss what will probably be your best track times. If you can, I’d just spend the night in Vegas and fly out in the morning.
Yeah, that sounds well worth staying for. Looks like I'm going to end up with the 1130pm arrival back into houston lol

This thread has brought back some great memory's so I'm going to bore y'all with my vacation pics of SM..

I also had a good time meeting two awesome cats, @soulsea and @burn813

As an HPDE instructor I’ve only gotten tipped once, a nice bottle of wine from a student, but it’s not something I expect. However the SM staff do this for a living and at the end of day two they do put out a tip box that gets split. I typically put a $100 in there. As others have said they try really hard to make sure enjoy the event.

I always bring my wife who likes to sit in the sun in the lounge area behind the club house or at the pool. I never brought my kids there but I used to bring my two boys to VIR all the time with my wife. VIR had a lot more outdoor room around the paddock to run around though.

I'm booking my airfare and car rental this week. Looks like $400 in airfare, $250 for the car rental.

Yeah, I've never flown Southwest before. I despise the "cattle car" concept. I paid extra for their Business Select fare so I am guaranteed to be in the first boarding group.

But Southwest was the only carrier I could find that had a nonstop flight back to Houston late enough that I don't have to stay another night.

It's a 3-hour flight and 2-hour time change. My flight lands at 1:20 AM local. I probably won't be home until 2:00 AM.

Speaking of which: to arrive home at 11:30 you'd have to depart LAS around 6:30. I understand it's about an hour from Spring Mountain to LAS, so you're only giving yourself 90 minutes to return your car and go through security. Seems a little tight to me.

OMG, I hate the "cattle car" crap myself! I try to avoid it at all cost!

^^^^^And this from Mister I Live in a Ghetto with Two Blackwings 🤣
Oh come on, you guys know I'm a huge bullshit artist, and I DO live in the ghetto!

From the pictures Tall Steve posted it appears they were using the Section out to the East. We used that section at the Corvette School in 2017 but used the full return rather than the truncated return it appears they were describing. Most of the videos I have seen for the recent V Academies have been on the center section. My last V Academy we used the West end by the Breakfast area.
