Spring Mountain

When I get to go I will be in that newbie group. 😑
Day 1 it doesn't matter. You are grouped at random. I was grouped with a couple slower drivers. They monitor your driving abilities the entire time. For Day 2 they will group you with similar drivers.

FYI, I asked about staying an extra night and Donna said there were no extra nights available. I am scheduled for the May 22-23 class.

I tried that too to no avail. There’s some place that they put people up in when the condos are full. I’ll have to try to find out what that place is or, head to Vegas.

The drive to Vegas isn’t bad at all. About 3 people in my group drove to Vegas after to get on flights the next day. You’ll have to be out of your room before day 2 class but the clubhouse has a nice shower facility to use or even spa to chill out before leaving. I jumped on a flight right after, but as mentioned I made my wife drive.

Can someone refresh me, do CT4-V BW buyers also get the class, or just 5? I was recently offered a 4 that is built almost exactly as I would order one and decided to lock it up. Could have it it in a few weeks. I was really looking forward to this class as 5 owner, but at least now I would get to drive the 5 on a track.

Gotcha. Maybe I'll sneak a ride in a 5 if I have an order in. Just have to slum it in a 4 for another year or so ;-)

90% sure they make sure its the same drivetrain (manual/auto) that your purchase was as well.

They put me in auto despite the fact that I own a manual ... but that's because they ran out of manuals on my dates. I don't know if they let you choose or stick you in what you have if they happen to have both available.

I was happy to drive the auto tbh as I just want to throw the car around a bit and play with the drive modes, not work on my track shifting.

Has anyone inquired if they allow dogs (not goats) in the condos?

If I can get my hands on a 4BW and sign up for these courses, I wonder if it's possible to reserve a manual, as long as you're flexible with the dates. It'd be a shame if this wasn't possible.

It should be. We ended up changing our date so that we could reserve the type of car that we had as well as a condo vs being put up in a nearby hotel because the condos were booked for our original date.

That's weird I thought the condos were hand in hand with the black wings so how would it be overbooked?

I believe that they have other activities there besides the Blackwings. Apparently, the capacity for all of the activities can be more than the capacity of the condos.

The two night stay is included with your event, but @Harris was trying to add extra nights on either side of the two days and that, apparently, is already booked up for the May 22-23 events. I know others have done it, but apparently for when we're scheduled, they're already full.

My first day was Sunday and it seemed to only be the Blackwing group and the car clubs on the track. Monday a couple Corvette classes showed up and there were a lot more people in the condos and clubhouse. It looks like they have 3 buildings with 15 or so rooms in each so its not a large amount.

Class ends early around 4PM. I just drove back to Vegas and stayed one night in one of the MGM hotels near the airport where you can access a bunch of casino/hotels just walking around inside or take the tram. You can even watch a show that night. I was tired but its not that bad. Those not having to change 3 times zones have an advantage though.

Cannot say enough good things about the Spring Mountain course. The facilities and staff are awesome. The experience is challenging and fun and you quickly see improvements by applying the feedback and instruction. I read the forums and the manual and still learned a good deal more about the car too.

I have to be in Vegas in July for work and hoping to do the class then. How miserable will it be in the heat? It's a long trip and I'd really like to avoid making it again but I'd rather do that than not enjoy the class.
