Coming here for advice after a heavily frustrating day -- I've gotten a lot of help off of this board and I'm hoping for some answers.

My '25 6MT with 6k miles developed the turbo wastegate chirp that has been discussed on this forum, so I took it to my local dealer, they ended up ordering a new turbo to be installed when it arrives.

I leave the dealer, drive about 10 miles, all seems normal, until I pull off from a red light, it feels and sounds like I'm suddenly driving a tractor. Engine sounds very growly, and the car is vibrating/shuttering like I have never felt it before. I initially rolled down the window because I thought it was the truck next to me, but it wasn't.

No CEL.

I decide to turn back around and return to the dealership.

On the way, the car is vibrating like crazy, especially when off the throttle. I can feel it in the shifter, in the wheel, pedal box, and even in my seat. The engine and exhaust note is also noticeable different, a noticeable growl. I initially thought maybe a tire issue, but I also noticed that when I rev the engine while in neutral, the car vibrates very noticeably when I let off and as the RPMs come down. I also felt like the shifts were clunkier than usual, especially 2nd to 3rd. There was also one occasion when I was sitting at a red light in neutral that I heard a popping noise from somewhere in the front of the car. I only heard this one time.

I get back to the dealership and explain, the manager sits in the car, I demonstrate the vibration while reving, we go for a short drive, I have him feel the shuddering and vibration that I feel, he claims all he feels is the vibration from the road. He tells me all that they did while the car was there was put it onto a lift and listen for the chirping noise from the wastegate. They claim that nothing was removed or disconnected from the car. We get back to dealership, he has the tech sit in the car, they listen, car goes back up on the lift for a look-over, they say no noticeable issues, and that they aren't hearing / feeling what I am describing.

I don't know what else I can do at this point, I can't make them feel something, but I am so in tune with my car when I drive it, I notice everything. I know without a doubt that there is something different / wrong.

So here I am, feeling extremely frustrated and lost. I can't see how anything was done at the dealership to create such an issue, but I also had none of these issues before it being there. It wasn't even driven while there for service other than up onto / off of the lift.

Does anyone have any ideas or theories about what may be happening here?

I understand the frustration, but you're not lost. It's unfortunate that you have to spend time (and maybe some money, at least initially) on someone else's error, but move past that and focus on building a case that they F'ed up your car. If it's really running terribly, the MIL is going to come on. If you have a scan tool, it might even show a pending code.

Now that everyone has had a moment to cool, I would call them up and explain that if they aren't going to review their work, you and your lawyer are going to find a second opinion and you plain on being made whole.

Did you end up getting this sorted out?
Where in the Philadelphia area are you? What dealer is this? I'm also in the area and would be willing to help if needed.

I have logged over 40k miles on my BW and experienced all sorts of noises which led to warranty repairs with my car (3 new exhausts, differential, shocks, interior rattles, etc) and would be happy to take a look at your car. All my work has been done at Holman in Mount Laurel, NJ, they have been really good.

Was this beans? Just went to bergeys last month and had better luck with trying to get the turbo rattle diagnosed after beans couldn't hear anything from my car for years. beans launch controlled my car and everytime I picked it up it was left in tour mode after they parked it in v mode. I checked my dashcam and called them out on it and got a "sincere apology". Next time it was in I heard a service tech ask another if they ever saw what these cars could do on a test drive and the guy goes "yeah but not on this one, this guy has a camera".....

Went to a different dealer, was told that the engine mounts needed to be replaced. They replaced the mounts under warranty, but also said that there was a considerable amount of rocks and small road debris jammed into the mounts, which was causing all the vibration issues. They still replaced the mounts. All I can think of is when the car was put on a lift, it allowed the rocks and debris to fall somewhere that it wasn't before, thus creating the issues?

2nd dealer did not fix or replace anything for the waste gate issue. They do not think there is one.

I also still have several other issues to be addressed, specifically a ticking sound when turning the car to the right (see attached video). I have what sounds like air escaping or a high-frequency rattle from somewhere under the car at a specific RPM (around 2,300).

Also my 1-2 gear shift is one of the worst I have ever experienced in a manual transmission, but I keep being told "That's just how it is.." Sometimes the car just refuses to go into 2nd gear for what seems like 3-5 seconds before it finally goes in. Sometimes when going into first gear at a stop, the car doesn't go all the way into 1st, and I have to start all over again, or on occasion have found out the hard way that it isn't all the way in gear.

So unbelievably frustrated and just want someone to take my concerns seriously enough and not tell me that some of these issues are normal when they are clearly not.

Sounds like a nicely running wind up clock. I hear it. Does it tick faster the faster you go? If so then I’d say wheel bearing got something in its race. Honestly I’d jack up the front end then spin that wheel by hand to see if can cause it to tick. If so take the wheel off, spin the hub and listen for it. I know it’s under warranty but as an engineer I’ll investigate things myself first.

Changes with speed, only happens when wheels are turned. When going straight, no tick.
