Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

How the heck do I replace the battery!

That’s the idea, but shit happens. I’ve had the CTEKs and they work until they don’t. Now I use real equipment designed to supply the needed current. 30A for my Jeep and 15A for the 5BW. All the Amazon stuff are toys.
Mr. duck i have a CTEK that has worked so far and I hopefully am not jinxing it. I am curious as to your real equipment you have moved on to for my future edification. Thanks

Transport mode sounds like the way to disable potential parasitic draws. I won’t have an outlet to hook up a tender to when I store my inbound CT4BW 6M.
I’ve disconnected the - terminals on several rides with good results after 3 months storage albeit in Florida climate.
Appreciate this thread’s insights.

for those who are looking to replace a battery - do check dealer national service promotions. Many regions run very fair promotions on AC Delco AGM batteries replaced (parts and labor) cheaper than buying one in an auto store.

As others said - proper procedure is to hook up a power source to the terminals in the engine bay and replace the battery. that will avoid any codes afterwards.

The proper procedure is to hook up a power source to a terminal that is common with the terminal in the battery during replacement? This seems like a bad idea, that's actually what is in the service manual?

Ctek is a very good product. I have converted to the complete Noco Genius line and on the 5BW I have use their direct mount on board battery charger. It's permanently mounted under hood (it's designed specifically for this) so while storing I just open the hood and plug in. Its a good time to check the oil when I unplug the the cord, so I think its ideal.

Could you post a pic of how this is installed under the hood. Thanks

Changing it is similar to removing one from a XT5 just in the trunk but some good YouTube videos
