V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
This if for an 2023 CT4-V BW, 9k miles. I'm curious if others have had these issues and were able to resolve them. The dealership's service departments around here are not great, so I like to give very clear guidance on how to investigate and resolve my issues. I was not able to find these specific issues anywhere in the forums.

1. Squeaky seatbelt - this is the most annoying one. At low speeds, if you are passing over undulating bumps that make the car and your body sway side to side, the seatbelt makes a medium pitch squeak. It is LOUD. It sounds a lot like the bed squeaking in hotel room next door (if you get my drift). I have isolated it to when the seatbelt is coming is moving in and out (furling and unfurling) slightly. This same squeak cannot be recreated by just pulling the seatbelt back and forth with your hand. It is a very specific instance when it occurs, but it happens A LOT.

2. Excessive wind noise from the sunroof - when closed, there is a lot of noise once you are at highway speed. I love sunroofs so almost every car I've ever owned has one and this is by far the loudest one at highway speeds when closed. I've closely inspected the seal and the closed position and it seems fine.

3. iPhone charging on the charger pad - 10 secs of charging and then nothing. Worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago and now it doesn't. Case on or off, position, charge level - nothing matters. EDIT - found the thread where this seems to be seen an Apple issue - so never mind :)

Thanks

Update: had to go back to the dealer to show the tech how the squeak worked. He was able to diagnose and fix.
Sunroof seals back ordered til march but should solve the issue.

Software is current so stuck w spotty charging.

Can't help you on the Sunroof, I hate them myself.

If thats all you found, you didn't look very hard.

Sometimes seat belt squeak is the latch rubbing against leather seats.
Depends on seat position and size of driver.
Try some felt on latch.

is there not felt on the latch between the leather already?

Perhaps the build quality got better, since late ‘21.
Mine doesn’t have felt on the inside buckle (near tunnel), although I don’t have seatbelt squeak either.
Another car I had, needed felt applied in that area, where inside buckle rubbed on seat bolster.

Sometimes the seats themselves squeak, as they flex from chassis motions, different seat positions might make a change and/or help you isolate the source.

I think I get a tiny rattle from the shifter, but its perhaps as minimal, as could be expected, from a constantly moving part.

It isn’t coming from the latch side. I can hear it clearly from where the belt goes into the B-pillar. Guess that wasn’t clear in my OG post.

Also, if you have a link to something you found that I didn’t with my poor search skills, feel free to post it for my educational benefit.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I spent a lot of time isolating the source of the sound it is not the seat. It is not the latch. It is specifically coming from where the seatbelt goes into the b-pillar. I’ve spent about a month researching testing and trying things I can only replicate the sound in the seat, and only with slight movement left to right with my body.

I have scheduled an appointment to have the dealership look at it and will post if they find anything wrong back on this forum.

I meant there are probably other QC issues (not that you didn't search the forum).
Your car seems minimal, compared to mine.
Although, most of mine are forgotten or fixed.

If you think it’s the B-Pillar area, it could be the Door, Window.
Porsche/Mercedes have their own branded Anti-Squeak Felt and WeatherStrip Dressing that I & Dealers have used to cure Squeaks.
That dressing might help your SunRoof Seal issue (and a potential window/door squeak issue).

It could also be your Seat Belt Retractor, but that would be one I never heard of.
I know it’s dangerous, but have you tried holding the belt in other positions, as you drive, to see if it makes a difference?

Yes. If I hold the belt away from me, when I’m moving side to side (during bumps) it doesn’t make the sound. That’s why I don’t think it is the seat.

Also I can replicate it sitting buckled in the seat with the car off/still, if I sway back and forth just like when I’m driving over the bumps. Maybe my movement is causing it in the door or window but without the whole car moving I don’t think that is likely.

I’m thinking it is a retractor issue right at the spot where my fat gut requires it to be when I’m buckled. lol.

There might be other positions of the belt where it happens but I haven’t been able to find one.

Keep the suggestions coming. I appreciate the ideas to test out.

Following this thread against my better judgement, ha... forums are so informative but put snakes in my head and make me worry about issues I may not actually have...

In this case, I'm lucky enough to avoid this one so far. The only one I can nail down seems to come from the rear decklid area. Over sharp impacts it definitely rattles. Short of removing the trim I'm not sure of how to address it.

Figured I would put this here in case it helps anyone. It isn’t specifically related to any of the problems you mentioned, but I suspect it could be common, especially with anyone who has installed a hard mount radar detector. The plastic cover between the windshield and the rear view mirror has an insert in it that gets removed to move the cover out of the way to do the wiring. I found that I had a really annoying high pitched rattle somewhere in the middle of the car and finally tracked it down to that small insert. I simply put black electrical tape along its edges and it resolved that rather annoying rattle. So if you have a rattle that seems like it could be in the center console or just somewhere in the center dash, check that plastic insert on the cover between the mirror and windshield.

Great call... This is probably one of mine that shows up only when I hit bigger sharper bumps and isn't an issue more of the time. Worth addressing if/when I hardwire in my detector.

I found mine loose right after I bought it - not because of a noise - I was taping my parking pass (that usually goes on as a mirror hanger) to the piece. I could tell it was loose and popped it on securely. I think if I can resolve the seatbelt squeak I’ll be satisfied. I can live with the sunroof one. But will try to resolve both.

There is a software update for the phone issue. Next time you take it in to the dealer they should be able to help you with that.

Was going to say, just realized this issue is happening for me with Android, so not just iOS as @btown reported. Good to know!

Any chance you have the Software Part #, from a Work Order?
I hate to chance a dealer finding a Software Update, on their own.

My phone sort of charges, most of the time, so I don't think I have the problem.
If it could be better, I wouldn't mind.

I’ve had a few OTA updates, this isn’t encompassed in that is it?

Couldnt find it easily but here is a good place to start. If I can track it down I’ll update this thread:

THANK YOU FOR THIS!

F*ck that rattle has been bothering me. Will be fixing it tomorrow.

Finally got my car to the dealer:

sunroof noise = “it needs a new seal but they are back ordered“
new software update =“nope. No new updates available.”
seatbelt squeak =“tech couldn’t hear it even on the highway”. Me: “that’s why I asked you to let me show the tech how to reproduce it. Also I told you it was only a problem at low speed over bumps.“

So I get to go back on Tuesday to do what I originally asked to do, show the tech how to make it squeak. God knows when the seal will be in.

Sigh. I hate knowing answer. Telling someone the answer. Having it be ignored. Then being asked for the answer later when they can’t figure it out. Rework!

Reminds me of an interior rattle issue I had with my Mercedes (it had many, but one very annoying one in particular). I’m driving around with the tech and purposely laid out a route over bumpy roads to reproduce the sound. After about 30m the tech says he can’t hear it but his hearing is not very good. Ended up doing the work myself. Took off the door panels, nope not it. Finally took out part of the headliner and fixed the ratte.

Good luck and maybe ask the tech how his hearing is or ask for a younger tech before your ride. After you waste a lot of time I predict you’ll end up working on the car yourself.

This is making me wonder: with all the specialized services out in the world, I would figure there might be automotive specialists who specifically are “rattle people” who are experts in tracking down and addressing interior rattles/noises in cars. Is that a thing??
