Blackwing on Order
Blacked out front and rear badges and left colored centers. Ordered Piano Black Hyperdip online and used that for its glossy finish. Front Cadillac emblem pops off easily with a finger in the grill and pushing the top tab down to release. Rear emblem has two tabs that have to be released and has emblem tape holding it down. Tabs can be accessed by taking off the inner trunk liner (google search ct5 trunk liner removal) . Use fishing line to cut the emblem tape off. Once badges are removed, dremel/drill the backside pins and inner piece will separate from the edge. Paint the chrome surround and reassemble when dry with some superglue. I also blacked out the V emblems. Tried to tape off the inner colored sections but the dip would peel off with the tape, so I just painted the Vs all black. Overall, pretty simple job and cheap at $20 for the dip.

can you post a picture of the V's blacked out?

I bought separate badges from gm to paint and cure without having to drive around with holes in the front and rear of the car. For anyone else swapping these the tabs up front are VERY fragile. I used this to my advantage and was able to snap 3 of the bottom ones with 1 finger sticking into the grille. Just a warning to the cheap bastards (usually me) trying to pull them, paint and reapply.

Still have to swap out the rear tmw when I have a bit more time.

The back is a pain in the ass too. I received the black badge today from Savage Cadillac and spent the last few hours getting the chrome badge off.

I guess GM just glues the two clips onto the back of the trunk badge lol. The badge came off fine, but the clips were left in the trunk holes. I couldn't drop the trunk liner enough to get my big hands in behind to get the clips so I had to rip them out with pliers.

To top it off, one of the clips on the Savage badge must have broken off in the mail so I'm attempting to glue it back on. Hope it works and I can stick it in tomorrow.

For the rear trunk liner, you have to remove the plastic latch cover (slides off) and the plastic handle thing on the right side (1 screw). Then pop off all metal push clips holding the liner on. You also have to pop the plastic hinge covers off on both sides just enough to get the liner off. I Used plastic trim removal tools, made it very easy. Then push the badge tabs out from behind the deck lid. Use fishing line to get behind the badge to cut through the double Sided tape.

Those rear badge clips were a bitch to get out, glad I bought new emblems and weren't trying to paint the stocks ones. I went from "these will unclip no big deal" to "I'm going to break this clip into a million pieces so it's friend on the other side releases itself out of fear" in about 2 seconds. Blacked out rear looks so much better in my opinion. Shame on Cadillac for not making thess factory and selling them

Looks good. What tint and percentage is that? It looks good. Deep dark black. And is the front windshield tinted as well?
Tint is the legal limit here in Texas. 25% I think? No tint on front windscreen .

That’s a good description. Once one knows the process, taking the liner out is a 10m job maximum. I have a lot of experience taking apart doors and dashes so this one was pretty easy (although it did take me 20m the first time. Need to know what to look for. There is a tiny “door” that hides the screw for the handle thing.

Hey guys,

Got an email from Cadillac. They are gifting us a Blackwing badge underneath the V badge for the rear trunk. If anyone is interested, call Cadillac and provide them your VIN. I was told I should receive it by the end of the year. Enjoy

It's some Illuminati business you'd be better off not asking about.
