2025 5-BW Precision Package Questions...

Apparently the BW CCB require weighing. What a pain. If they form a lip when they get worn like iron rotors do then that will be a good visual indicator. I can usually tell when my iron rotors need replacing before measure the thickness.

Weighing rotors is common for CCB's - not unique to BW's.

The other advantage to CCB on the track as I understand; is that they do not overheat with Track use, and are not subject to brake fade. Also most BW's are multi use, daily drivers etc; therefore CCB will last alot longer, with limited Brake dust.

My car is serviced by a Dealer; at a point in time probably 30000 miles from now I will have them "weigh" my rotors I assume.

Having just done a track day at NCM in my ‘23 with iron brakes, I feel like the main thing holding me back is outright cornering grip. So many corners, I was having to hold back to avoid shredding the front PS4Ss. I didn’t feel like the chassis was a problem—with the track alignment, the car was playful yet predictable, as opposed to with the stock alignment where it seems to tend towards understeer and not have much interest in rotating on demand.

To be fair, my skill level and knowledge of the track (this was my first time there) were also holding me back, but I’m confident that grippier tires would have shaved a tiny but not insignificant bit from my lap times.

Also, I owe something like $60k on my 2023. I can’t justify multiplying that by 2.5, adding 2 years to my loan, and at least several hundred dollars to my monthly payment, in order to drop a couple seconds from the lap times.

I do regret the iron brakes, but only from a dust standpoint—they held up to NCM just fine. I found a vendor that makes custom CCBs and is getting me a set with pads for $7500 shipped.

Here’s my last and best session at NCM. Following a Porsche 997 early on. Skip ahead to 26 minutes to see me tailing a 911 Turbo S and a Cayman GTS for multiple laps.

Great Driving; when you say "Track Alignment" what were your changes ? After your Track Day, which seemed like a fair amount of miles; how did your tires look ? I have been impressed so far as to the lack of wear with aggressive cornering/ driving. If I had to guess a percentage of Track time, or Track like driving (Tail of the Dragon) it would probably be less than 20% of my total miles.

Here is what my tires looked like after one track day. They are Goodyear Supercar 3R. Camber is 2.8f and 2.0r.

OUCH.. Wow was it a hot day ? It looks like you have someone elses melted rubber on there as well. I will say that the camber adjustment must be pretty good they are worn pretty even, but really gooey looking. How many miles did you run ? So far I have been running in cool weather on the MICH PILOT SPORT 4S which came on my 25 BW with Precision Package, and not for any duration like you were. I guess the same CCB, but I think you will appreciate their braking feel/ power, durability and lack of brake dust !

It was actually a cool day under 70F. We don’t typically get hot weather up here in the PNW. The tires still got really gooey and picked up anything not glued to the road. A few hot laps scrub them clean.

The wear seems good with the track camber. A guesstimate is about 150 track miles plus about 70 highway miles.

I just took off the track wheels today. There was a lot of carbon brake dust along with a lot of tire rubber. Took some time to get them cleaned up.

If you are wondering how the 5BW PP did, my best lap was about 1.7s better than my best lap in my GT350 which ran Cup 2 tires. Some of that time is due to the sticker 3R tires. But there is still much more to wring out of the BW.

what track wheels did you end up deciding to use on the car?
