I suspect it was not the oil change that set the CEL, but whatever they where doing to inspect the emissions system.

I change my own oil, never set codes and I know who is taking it out for a joy ride. Something does not seem right with their story.

Not bragging, but I drive 40K + a year, 127 mi/day commute. At least 45 miles of it is 2 lane canyon road. Its hell on tires though. Only had mine for just over 2 weeks, 2K miles so far. Most of the time I drive like a little old lady, getting 22-23 mpg, but Ill have bursts of fun now and then.

Many cars will pressurize fuel and brake systems when they detect you approaching. No idea about the noise when leaving the car, but I have heard this as well. Just mark it up as magic stuff in the background.
