Need some advice... do I go for a car in transit that's 1000 miles away but has my options just with a few extras I'm amenable to or do I be patient and wait for my build locally?
I've called over 20 dealers in Florida. Many have ADM (or stupid mandatory add-ons.... LoJack...wtf), the rest seem to be impossible to get allocation information from or have long wait lists with no end in sight. Ironically my best option seems to be the first one I went to and is closest to me that had previously told me they'd require an ADM but changed their tune more recently. I'm first on their list supposedly but the other dealer close by told me I was first then a month after putting my order in I found out I was third. It was like pulling teeth getting info but the manager "thinks" they'll get allocation relatively soon but there's none on their estimated shipments report as of now. And of course there's a non-zero chance my options could be constrained from ordering when they do get allocation.
I'm planning on trading my Rivian R1T for the tax offset which means a 2000 mile road trip. Not loving the idea of the first 1000 miles on the 5BW being highway (I'll make sure to vary the speed and RPMs) but doesn't seem like the end of the world. I'm a smidge concerned the value on my truck will tank or the dealer I order from will low ball me on it since they know they have me by the balls. Leaning towards the road trip but super torn.
