Subwoofer Install

Are you going to build a box on that side? I have been thinking about building a box over the right small storage bin for my Audiofrog 10". The recommended seal is .5-.75 cubic feet. I need to get measurements.
I got about .75 cu ft for the cubby area. This is without the little storage area. Factor in wall thickness and speaker displacement, and you’re there

In preparation for my install, I’ve been monitoring the battery voltage while the car is running/driving so that my amp tuning is correct for the vehicle.

I’ve noticed the voltage kind of jumps around from low/mid 13s to sometime spiking to 14.8… has anyone else noticed this? I know some new cars vary the voltage for what every different things, but not to this extent.

I was expecting 14-14.4 which I think is pretty standard.

I have searched for variable voltage on GMs. It looks like the Silverado trucks have it. It might be on these as well. I know it can cause issues.

I'm having issues with the Variable Voltage on my wife's car (Nissan Pathfinder). It will randomly kill the battery and Nissan says the battery tests good. I'm about to disable it on the vehicle. It's just a push clip on the negative terminal.

That is an Illinois background if I ever saw one.

My camaro did the same, ran an aftermarket amp for 6 years with no issues. Used the same amp when I had a 4bw with no issues. I have a 5bw now but haven't installed audio upgrades yet because the shop that did my installs closed.

Have a 12 Silverado and the voltage gauge moves around often. Have 2 amps from the battery with no problems. I would recommend installing a fuse before the amp. Just for extra protection.

Getting the LLJ bypass harness installed next weekend at an audio shop that has experience with ANC. They said they can either unplug at the amp, disconnect the microphones, or use a bypass. They've had success with all 3 depending on the car. If it works, I'll be joyful to get rid of the ESE since it seems they're tied together at the amp. Which really means I can have the exhaust valves open and not have the fake engine noise cause my interior to rattle and buzz lol.

I'm not sure if the bypass will change any fake noise. It will get rid of noise cancellation. It might make the interior seem louder from road/tire noise.

I'm fairly certain looking at previous posts in this thread. Also on most other cars, they're tied together as well (Ford, Toyota, Nissan, etc). If it doesn't, oh well, I tried lol.

Has anyone found a carpet that matches the trunk carpet? I plan to build a sub box that fits the cubby area.

I've ordered a sample of the "Ez Flex Black Trunk Liner GM 990" from midwestfabrics.com. Please let me know if you find anything else. Im not sure if it correct

This ended up being a bit darker than what’s in our cars. I may move forward with it seeing that I’m having trouble finding a good match. Have you found anything?

I haven't looked yet. Just trying to plan out the build for the future. I've been busy with my son's baseball tournaments every weekend. I hope to get some time in July.

Once I get to a decent point on my build, I'll probably make a thread. I've already got the rear mold, but yeah, the weekends arent long enough. Please keep me posted if you find anything and feel free to reach out with any questions

I will.

Are you creating a fiberglass mold?

I plan to do MDF if I can get the volume. I've built many MDF enclosures over the years. My fiberglass experience is limited.

Hey guys, installed the LLJ Customs bypass on my CT4 BW. No more ESE and didn't notice a significant difference in road noise on the highway. Audio shop took 30-45 mins and charged $50. So worth it. Got rid of the damn interior buzz around 2000-2500rpm. Also they mentioned they can install an amp and fine tune the stock speakers with their own DSP and that would make a huge difference without upgrading the speakers.

Nice! Could you link to that bypass?
