Winter Wheels and Tires

Thanks Novakin for sharing your 4BW setup.

I copied most of it and suggest following his wheel suggestion as is. I tried something different and had to revert back to his suggestion.

Tires I am running Blizzaks 225 40 18 in front and 245 40 18 in rear.

Are your wheels a different spec from Novakin's? Your front wheels in particular look totally different.

Maybe it's just me, but are those the same wheel style? They're close, no doubt, but I think it's a different wheel entirely.

Yes fronts are different.

I thought I would be “smart” and pick a different wheel. I liked the Arc 8 and that was a bad choice. Arc 8 fits the front 18x9. Arc 8 18x9 doesn’t fit over rear caliper. I have Arc 8 in the front and Arc 7 in the rear.

Summary follow Novakin suggestion and don’t try to get smart

What about the EC8 18x9.5 or 18x10?

I'm thinking ARC-8 18x9.5 ET58 with a spacer...
I looked at spacer for the 9 wide Arc8 and needed 5MM. Only had 5 turns of lug nut and decided to fix issue with wheel instead of studs and spacer. I personally prefer to stay away from spacer when I can.

My newly installed winter sneakers for here in eastern Pennsylvania. As previously discussed on this thread, Apex rims (18x9 and 18X9.5, ask for Corey, he's been dealing with a few of us BW owners), Apex 3mm spacer up front, Apex centering rings, Michelin CrossClimate 2, and Gorilla lug nuts. The Michelins are 225/40/18 and 245/40/18. Narrower than our OE summers but the same diameter/circumference. Exactly how ya want 'em. Gobs of stick in the cold wet (which is most of the time) and are reported to perform admirably in the snow, in case I get surprised halfway through a workday. For real shit weather (a handful of days, maybe 3? 4?) I have a Subaru Crosstrek booted with the Michelin X-Ice.

Curious if you can share the cost for that set up.

Mine came out to $2600 after rebates and cashback offers for a full set of Apex Wheels, 225/245 Michelin AS4s, and required accessories.

My local shop did the install and balancing for $120, and even threw the car up on a lift and let me take some pictures :).

I selected the Relearn TPMS on the dash cluster, and have had zero issues.

Let us know how those Michelin PS4s do. I'm considering those for my summer tires as the PS4 get kinda sketchy in the rain. From the YouTube side-by-side tests they don't seem to give up a lot to the PS4 in the dry and maybe I'll end up sideways less :) (Lots-O-torque in that thar motor)

Try using PTM-wet in the rain. It makes a huge difference.

WHOOPS my bad I meant AS4s for the winter! Yeah the AS4s hook up with PTM far better than I thought they would.
