I am wondering why not always use 5W-50 in our CT5-V Blackwings if this is all true?

GM would have to recertify emissions if they started recommending a different oil is likely the only reason they don’t suggest running the new 5w-50I am wondering why not always use 5W-50 in our CT5-V Blackwings if this is all true?
Amazon still Lists Mobil 15W-50. A 5 quart jug is $28 bucks. It would appear that 15W50 Mobil Supercar oil is no longer available. They only list 0W40 and 5W50 now.
If GM engineering recommends 5W50 or 15W50 Mobil 1 for track use, who am I to question their engineering wisdom. I put well over 6,000 track miles on my ZLE Camaro with zero problems. I followed GM oil change recommendations for engine, trans, and diff. I had zero issues. Mind you I consumed 6 sets of brake pads, 12 bottles of SRF, and 10 sets of Goodyear 3Rs. I plan to do it all again in a BW.
THANKS GM for selling me such another awesome car for street and track use.
There’s never been a “Supercar” 15W-50—Supercar branding only applies to the 0W-40 and 5W-50 dexosR oils. That’s why the 15W-50 is only recommended by GM for track use.Good find, but unfortunately that's not Mobil 1 Supercar 15W50
I was told by the GM rep that 15W50 was only recommended for track use because it didn't meet decos standards due to emissions. There’s never been a “Supercar” 15W-50—Supercar branding only applies to the 0W-40 and 5W-50 dexosR oils. That’s why the 15W-50 is only recommended by GM for track use.

I guess I gave 'engineering' too much credit. Just replace 'engineering' with 'marketing' and move on.I've never understood comments like this. As an engineer, I'd love to live in a world where engineers actually got to make the decisions you think they make. Engineers get overruled constantly by management for tons of reasons, good and bad. In the case of cars emissions compliance is a big factor. Of course in all engineering disciplines cost-cutting is a huge factor.
