GM adds new dexos R approved oils

It would appear that 15W50 Mobil Supercar oil is no longer available. They only list 0W40 and 5W50 now.

If GM engineering recommends 5W50 or 15W50 Mobil 1 for track use, who am I to question their engineering wisdom. I put well over 6,000 track miles on my ZLE Camaro with zero problems. I followed GM oil change recommendations for engine, trans, and diff. I had zero issues. Mind you I consumed 6 sets of brake pads, 12 bottles of SRF, and 10 sets of Goodyear 3Rs. I plan to do it all again in a BW.

THANKS GM for selling me such another awesome car for street and track use.

I am wondering why not always use 5W-50 in our CT5-V Blackwings if this is all true?
GM would have to recertify emissions if they started recommending a different oil is likely the only reason they don’t suggest running the new 5w-50

Amazon still Lists Mobil 15W-50. A 5 quart jug is $28 bucks.

Good find, but unfortunately that's not Mobil 1 Supercar 15W50

There’s never been a “Supercar” 15W-50—Supercar branding only applies to the 0W-40 and 5W-50 dexosR oils. That’s why the 15W-50 is only recommended by GM for track use.

I was told by the GM rep that 15W50 was only recommended for track use because it didn't meet decos standards due to emissions.
