I've been on 8 or 13 ride alongs with city PD. I'd say that's worth a couple miles. Even went to college for criminal justice. I think you guys are missing the point. It's not the person, it's the Government that needs accountability.

I sure as heck would love to if the DAs don't prosecute you because you were white and the black angry mob scares him/her. Policing ain't what it used to be and until the public starts holding government accountable, nothing will change. (For example, an officer jumping in front of a moving vehicle only to setup his/her defense that they were in fear of their life so they had to do a mag dump on the driver and kill all the occupants inside and/or the prosecutor ruling it justified when said driver was only doing 20 mph when the officer jumped in front of the car)
Black angry mobs with power?? Really, where do you live?? The 'mobs' I've seen are mixed with every color of the rainbow (and places on the West Coast have vast majority white participants on BLM marches.)

Policing is a difficult job but let's stay on topic of cars here and leave the politics, race, etc behind please.

Back to the topic - why couldn't the dealership work with OnStar to find the car??

The suspect covered up the VIN of the car...

Look up how many cops are there and then how many cases of “bad apples”. It’s a very small %

You’re grouping all the culinary industry in one group because of that bad waiter on Applebees that made the news.

You are entitled to your opinion. Just remember not everyone shares it and that they are LEO who are car enthusiasts and normal ass dudes.

Not all cops are good and that’s true. Not all opinions should be posted online.

This is an enthusiast forum for cadillac and we are helping a fellow enthusiast help someone who’s blackwing was stolen.

Let me say that’s record for new models stolen.

I'm missing something...the dealership and GM know the VIN before the car arrives

What if there were no dealerships in the state reporting vehicle theft?

Actually, I worked with Anthony and spoke to him that night after Bryan posted this thread.

There was legitimate reasons why they wanted to see another Blackwing...a model that just started getting built in July of this year. As you're aware, there's not many on the road
Thats why I was pulled over and was told to slow down and he really pulled me over to checkout my car. I didn't mind, he didn't give me a ticket. :happyanim: He said CHP are looking for these cars.

Again, I think I'm missing something here...original post said a dealership initiated contact in relation to a missing BW?? Means it's their property until sold right? And of course they have the VIN so why isn't this simply a call to OnStar to track the car???

I'm trying not to go into specifics here because it's an ongoing investigation...

Bryan's dealership reached out to him because local and state authorities reached out to them asking if they had a Blackwing stolen and that they needed help identifying the car. Because the car is new, they wanted to take a look at another Blackwing and learn about the different packages such as the CF1 and CF2 packages so that they could get an accurate understanding of what the car looked like.

The car was stolen from somewhere and involved in a police chase, found on the side of the road with the VIN number covered up. The local and state authorities had not received any reports of a stolen 2022 Blackwing so without a VIN they didn't have much to go on and they were trying to track down the owner.

OnStar would have been useless in this situation since there were no dealers reporting theft of a Blackwing and the police had nothing to go on but a black Cadillac without a VIN.

Bryan's dealership didn't lose a Blackwing. Law Enforcement was contacting dealers within the state of NJ and Bryan's dealership contacted him because they knew he had a similar Blackwing to what the police were chasing.

so confused onstar can tell them the vin of this car unless its a manufacturers car without a vin .

How?

So I could call OnStar right now, and ask them what the VIN is to a 2021 Cadillac parked on a street corner in my neighborhood right now and they'd be able to tell me what the VIN of that car is?

As a followup to this, OnStar needs a customer name or a VIN in order to locate the car. If nobody in the State of NJ has reported a Blackwing stolen, how would you call OnStar and what information would you provide?

You don't have the owner's information - the car is stolen - and thus far nobody has reported it stolen, and the VIN is hidden on the car.

My dealer called me but they didn't sell the car. The officer was visiting dealerships in the area that might have a 4BW on the lot to look at. There were none in the area so Brogan Cadillac called me, the only 4BW they sold, to see if I was willing to let the officer look at my car. They first asked if I was willing to come to the dealership to meet the officer but I was working so I asked the officer to stop by my local police station and have them escort the out of town officer to my house to ensure it was 100% legit situation.

The police found the car parked on a street - locked with blacked out windows.

Without breaking into the car - I don't know how. Personally, I don't really care. I don't have all the specifics of the situation and I'm only relaying what was relayed to me by the detective.

Where the case goes from here - is out of my hands.

Moving on...
