Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if any other BW owners have experienced a similar issue—here’s my situation:
Car: 2023 Cadillac CT5‑V Blackwing, manual transmission, approx 25,000 miles.
Timeline and repair history:
1. I started seeing the “Reduced Clutch Performance” warning, even when the clutch wasn’t hot, and the car felt like the clutch was slipping or disengaging while in gear.
2. Dealer diagnosed a small oil leak contaminating the clutch assembly (oil/fluids getting into the bellhousing or clutch area).
3. They replaced the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate—explicitly citing the oil leak contamination as cause. The car then drove fine for about a month.
4. Now, new oil leak has appeared (same or very similar symptom: clutch feel off, warning may show). The concern is that the root cause (seal, gasket, pan, etc) may not have been permanently addressed, and the fresh clutch/flywheel might be at risk again.
My questions for the group:
Has anyone else had a repeat oil leak after a clutch/flywheel/pressure plate replacement on their CT5-V Blackwing (or similar Tremec manual V series car)?
What was the exact leak source in your case? Rear main seal? Transmission input shaft seal? Oil pan or manifold gasket? Concentric slave cylinder leak?
What part numbers or revised components did the dealer install (especially seals/gaskets) to prevent recurrence?
Did you end up having to replace the clutch again due to contamination from the secondary leak?
Did the manufacturer issue any updated parts (seals, hardware) via TSB for this issue?
What is your recommended path to ensure warranty covers this and dries it up for good?
What I’m doing right now:
I’m requesting the dealer perform a dye test or fluid leak trace to clearly identify the new leak source BEFORE the clutch goes again.
I’m documenting everything (dates, mileage, symptoms, photos of leaks/stains).
If this ends up being a factory-sealed component failure (and it is at 25 k miles), I’m preparing to press for full warranty coverage of both the leak source and the contaminated clutch components.
If anyone has been through this and has parts swapped or documented their fix, I’d really appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance for any help!
PS I've never posted here before and I am unsure if this is the correct place for this inquiry.
