I found a CT4V Blackwing that is very base, and I'm comparing to a much higher build. Half of me says get the higher build for all the fun goodies, but the other half says "Pay less so you can get a lower finance period, which would save a ton on interest." Problem is, I really want the HP Steering wheel and I can't seem to find out if it can be added afterwards and what something like that would cost if it is possible. Would anyone here know that?

It's possible and already been done before. Can't recall what thread it's in but there are pics somewhere.

I have the base steering wheel and would also be interested to see if this has been accomplished before, if anyone can point in the direction of the thread!

I think it was this one:

I did see that one, but that is just adding a non-OEM steering wheel. I really want the OEM High Performance steering wheel.

Just an update to this thread...I ended up buying one with the HP steering wheel so it's a non-issue now!
Congrats on the buy! Guess I will have to rely on someone else to sort this out - here’s looking at you @Gotshotgun ??

A related question for those with the HP steering wheel - does the PTM toggle work while in track mode? My car doesn’t allow me to adjust PTM in track mode (only V mode) which I’ve found odd since PTM is meant for, well, the track. I had always thought the HP steering wheel more or less just looks cooler than the standard one (granted MUCH cooler, hence why I’ve been following this topic so closely), but I’m wondering if this could be an area where there is an actual functional difference.

Gonna bump this thread and see if anyone is able to find a writeup to swap the base steering wheel to the high performance one. My car will be arriving in a couple weeks and im looking to have this done. I've sourced the wheel, but dont want to pull the trigger until I can confirm this'll actually work.

Thank you for this link and thank you @LongGrayLine16 for the detailed video! I’m, doing the reverse that most people do. I hate the feel of alcantara with a passion so I’m replacing the steering wheel and shifter boot with leather ones.

I would pay to delete an Alcantara option. Using this material on areas handled every time you drive is madness. Unless you want to wear gloves every time you drive. I sure don't.

Pretty much what I’m doing. About $1000 after Caddy points and discount on the parts.

When I was searching for my 5BW, I passed on several because of the alcantara wheel.

I despised the suede wheel in my GT350 to the point that I wore gloves. Didn't like them either.

So did you ever swap out the wheel and boot? I’m looking to replace the alcantara in my car as well. Went to my local dealer in Orlando and they couldn’t figure out how to order the right parts, so I’m looking for either someone who has been able to do it, or the best option for a DIY answer. I currently have a cheap silicone cover on mine, as unless you are wearing suede or Alcantara driving gloves, the wheel is way too slippery (unless you let it get all greased up and disgusting).
