One of the reasons I hate states with front plate law -- so ugly! There's gotta be a better way to display the plate & be in accordance with the law. Speaking of which -- where's the front plate on your "friend"? They are risking a "fix it" ticket!

I live in NJ and have not had a front plate on in 11 years. NJ cops don't care except in a few small towns where you get overzealous enforcement...which I avoid. At this point most people I know who have nice cars roll without front plates. There are so many PA drivers that roll through NJ, 50% of cars you see don't have front plates anyway.

Others may disagree, but I have decided it is very much not worth my time to deal with an officer deciding to take his bad day out on me for an insignificant infraction.

I'd happily just pay the fines if they would mail me tickets, but that's not how it works unfortunately.

Why couldn't they do something similar for the CT4/5?

Back when I lived in NY & then NJ, I had a Miata & modified the front plate with a hinge so it swung out of the way over 15mph in the mouth of the grill so air flow would be unimpeded to reach the radiator. When the vehicle was parked, the plate stayed upright & didn't move. I understand this mod was made illegal a few years (decade?) ago as it defeats the purpose of the front plate as far as law enforcement is concerned. (Can't be seen by oncoming traffic when the vehicle is moving.)

I hear you about not wanting to needlessly attract the ire of law enforcement.

During the pandemic I got three warnings while tooling around southern Ontario without a front plate on the Mustang Bullitt I owned at the time. Eventually mounted it with Sto-N-Sho hardware to put a stop to that.
Since getting my ‘24 BW a year ago I haven’t been bothered by the cops about it once and so have not mounted my front plate even though I have the hardware to do it without drilling the bumper.
Back in ‘20 and ‘21 there were fewer cars on the road, and I think crime was down overall, too. There were certainly less cars from states and provinces that don’t require front plates, and that probably factored in as well.
Now it seems like the TPS have better things to do - I would certainly hope so - so I’m just not going to bother.

Whenever I grab a spot like this - far away from the entrance and in a sea of empty spots - it's as if the chaos theory dictates someone must park RIGHT next to me. You'd think they could leave one empty spot.

I wonder if studies have been done on what messed up human psyche compels normies to do this.
