Can the rest of the driveline take that much power reliably over the long haul?

I wonder what his settings were. It’s in V mode but we don’t know what the slider controls were set at. Was PTM off??

Thanks for posting. Enjoyed immensely. CT4 V BW acquitted itself well IMO. Surprised it was never passed but seemed a slow day.

Mischa loved the car and for good reason - it did everything well. We here get it and knew it would perform but not everyone yet gets it. Their loss....but Caddy/GM has seriously under-promoted these cars. I get it - profit margins greater with SUVs etc...but if they really wanted to change minds wrt the brand...well...outside of folks like us here they've largely failed....certainly could do much better.

Anyway I've been waiting so longer to see a BW (either) on the ring so this really made my day!

Yeah I'm surprised how little attention CT4 BWs get. It makes me wonder if GM wants to keep its productions numbers low. I see so many M3s and rarely see either Blackwing 4 or 5.
I see more M3s than I see all models of CT4 and CT5 combined. And I live in an area where there are a lot of cool cars

I think it’s because they released the 4 and 5 at the same time. Should have split them up by a year or so

I think there is something to this. Cadillac and GM clearly wanted to prove they could compete with BMW & the euros when they started the V program and continued with the Blackwings. I'm not sure if they ever really thought through where they ultimately wanted to go with it....its a niche market - but potentially very good for revitalizing the brands reputation.

Is minimal production with little promotional effort sufficient for their needs? Did it do enough to give the brand a reputation push without the need to really sell a lot of cars and make money off it. I really don't know the answers. And don't even know if these are even the right questions.

I'm glad for the opportunity to own and drive one though...particularity when manual transmission sport sedans are in declining availability and when BMW clearly has moved in other directions from what it once was for (real driving) enthusiasts.

Still....as good as this car (and the 5 V BW) is/are...no doubt the most capable and all around best car I've ever owned and arguably some of the very best enthusiast cars available today within affordability and other constraints...and easy power (no complaints)...these cars...and the sports cars of today are still - in many ways - not as engaging and fun to drive as many of the sports cars in 90s and early 2000s....its just a fact (at least IMO...lol).

My 1999 supercharged MR2 will likely always be the most fun drivers car I will ever own and drive. And much can be said about (smaller) BMWs of the time and a great many Japanese and British sports cars of the day as well that were lighter and more tossable....even without all the power. At least there are still Miatas and BRZs and such available for such things and these Blackwings are still pretty damn engaging so I'm not totally bitter about it.

The 5BW has definitely made a name for itself, and I think mostly because of the manual option. In so many car podcasts or similar you hear people always say the 5BW manual is a dream car or ultimate car they'd like to own.

Weight matters. Also the raw feeling of hearing all the road noise, engine sounds, etc. without all that sound deadening. <-- me agreeing with you.
I've never been a luxury guy. in the 00s when people would discuss audi and BMW better interiors than VW I couldn't see it. I've always been more about the performance and engagement with comfort and quietness as a sacrifice, but I think that attitude is a massive minority among the general populous... but often shared in the true car enthusiasts.

Brewski - I think we see it the same way. I drove the GTI out to Wegmans and ran some other errands with it today and drove it 110%+...I thrashed it nearly the whole time and loved every minute of it. If I'd taken the BW - sure I might have mashed it down here and there...but mostly I would have just drove sedately and enjoyed the tunes.

Sure I'm older now and don't drive as aggressively (all the time) like I used to....but to some extent its the car too. I can enjoy just cruising in the GTI...but there is something about it that really makes me want to mash on it, toss it around and cut up through traffic like a hulligan. And I really enjoy seeing the new Type Rs, M badged SUVs and current gen Supras fade in my my rear mirror trying and failing to keep up (as they did today).

And while I can still get great pleasure from mountain roads at the limit in the BW - as its certainly very capable and still fun....something about light and nimble (and quick) that just does it for me in a way these modern heavy beasts just can't repliate...

This channel did an episode on Corvette, so I'm looking forward to watching...
That would be my Blackwing! Was truly fun to be a part of this and get them in a BW finally. This car was EPIC on the Tail of the Dragon and surounding roads. Great guys as well and while they were driving our cars, we were driving theirs. LOVED the GT4, a lot! The Fiesta was a hoot as well. Emira is just drop dead gorgeous and very cool.

As I was with Mischa on the Ring I've felt that Everyday Driver not doing a Blackwing comparo was long overdue. While this wasn't exactly it I'm glad to see this and that they've at at least some exposure to the CT4V BW and seemed to like it and mostly get it. Here's hoping they do a more full review and comparo some day.

Very cool that it was your car clubracer....would love to hear more about the whole thing (and perhaps some of your other 70?+ cars you've owned....).

When I bought my BW in Atlanta and drove it up to DC area I did a side trip to the Dragon and had a fun run - though limited due to break in rev limits and me just getting to know the car. Still it told me a lot about the car and how it could handle the curves (and its weight). I've also long been a fan of the Fiesta ST - my kind of car. One of my son's nearly bought one back in the day.

Awesome, I've been waiting for Paul and Todd to get their hands on one for a while, so thanks for making it happen.

I’ve followed the guys for about 15 years. They featured for my car debate for #55 and ended up with a Chevy SS. I went on their Utah adventure last year and really got to know them better. Planned on meeting up with them for the last two days of the trip and offered up my car. We started in the morning and they each took our cars and we followed in theirs. Once again. I fell hard for Paul’s GT4! We pretty much hung out with them driving behind when they were filming and just chilling out for the still shots. I did drive my car for the drone footage as Todd was running the drone. I also did the drive over that small bridge. It was fun doing the nose to tail stuff. As far as my cars see attached… I know I need to put this on a spread sheet.. Some day.
