Motor1 asked automakers what percentage of customers opted for a manual in 2025 when offered a choice. Here are the GM/Cadillac numbers:
  • CT4 V-Blackwing: 61%
  • CT5 V-Blackwing: 48%
Most cars had a pretty high numbers. The high take rate on manuals is great but makes it even more infuriating when manufacturers stop offering it (I’m looking at you VW - there was no need to drop it from the Golf R/GTI).

I find those stats very interesting, as the C7 Corvette didn't have even close to that kind of take rate on the manual. It seems to me that the people that buy Corvettes are the same people buying Blackwings, so it is impressive to see how many are opting for the manual.

And that was Tadge's justification on why GM didnt even consider making manual C8s. The take rate for the C7s all together was less than 15%. They didnt see the worth in spending millions on R&D and finding a new manual trans for the rear mounted LTs when they're not gonna be ordered.

Interesting stats to be sure. I'd be interested to know what percentage are customer ordered vs dealer ordered.

^^^Would be very interesting to see. No science, just an anecdotes, but every dealer stock order I've seen has been 10A, sunroof, and white or black (or similar low risk color). I bet sold orders were over 75% 6M...or at least I want to hope, and that would be very interesting data for an OEM. EV's have certainly made me less interested in being fastest and rather focusing on engaging experiences even if it just so happens to still be fast, lol.

Demographics... My dad had a C7 with an auto. My aunt's husband had the same. I think the buying age has a lot to do with it. My wife thinks a Corvette is for a retired man.

Totally this, plus the fact that manual sports sedans these days are a lot harder to find than manual sports cars in the C7's era.

Very early on, I did look at some sales data and you are correct, dealers ordered A10 and customers ordered 6M. I didn't look at colors but I have to agree and that covers all stock! Dealers seem afraid to order anything other than black, white and some grey.

Yeah the CT4 having higher manual take rate makes sense since it's lighter and more nimble, probably feels better with the stick than the bigger CT5.

I wonder what percentage of these CT5 Blackwings had the PP option. The ultimate 'old man's' sedan.
