2026 CT5 V BW
Hi All,

Still loving and learning my 2026 CT5 V BW. I was considering an oil change as a safety measure. I dont see a concensus on this. Thoughts about any maintenance for this new car?

Other Questions:

-On the headlights stalk at the end of it there is a round spring loaded button that pushes into the stalk. Dont see this in the manual. Anyone know what this does?
-If I put the exhaust note in stealth mode does it impact performance?
- At idle after full warm up, engine runs a little rough most of the time; is this normal?

Thanks....

I don't care what anybody says. I have ALWAYS done a break in oil change on my new cars at about 1000-1500 miles. I used my free 1st oil change to do it. Its cheap insurance. Every engine builder that I have ever known does it too.
My 2022 5BW/auto has only 6800 miles on her in just over 3 years of ownership and its had 4 oil changes.

My 2024 has run slightly rough at idle from new also(hot or cold)… anyone else?

I have 1,875 miles and first oil change was at 917 miles.

Not only did I change my oil at 1k, I also changed the rear-diff fluid at 1.5k (right after diff break-in).

If you like your car a lot, then I would definitely be a step ahead on taking care of all the maintenance while being proactive - just like you are right now.

I changed engine oil at 500 and plan on changing engine oil and ELSD fluid at 1500 (even though I don't plan on much track use).

I also submit oil samples to Blackstone Labs. (At 500 miles, as expected, copper and silicon were higher than average.)

If you're not convinced break in changes are a good idea, try this video from The Motor Oil Geek.

I replaced engine oil, diff fluid and manual transmission fluid for the first time at about 1500 miles. Having the exhaust set on quietest mode will technically reduce performance but you will probably never notice.

Just checkin' where does the 1500 miles spec for rear diff ELSD oil change come from? I believe it, but was planning on sooner. Didn't see it in the owners manual. Is that a service manual spec? Thanks.
(I've got the fluid ready to go, just a matter of when and where)

The owner's manual says:
Should the vehicle be used for racing or competitive driving (after break- in), the rear axle lubricant must be replaced beforehand.
And also:
Axles must have 2 400 km (1,500 mi) of use before being used in track driving.
And Finally:
Drain and refill with new fluid after the first racing or competitive driving event

The owner's manual says:

And also:

And Finally:
That covers it! Thank you leres! for the thorough reply. :w
Also glad you had me heading over to the manual to find this re first time track run:

Caution
During a first time track or racing event,
high axle temperatures can occur.
Damage could be caused to the axle and
would not be covered by the vehicle
warranty. Do not drive as long or as fast
the first time the vehicle is driven on the
track or raced.
