My 5BW is my 4th manual transmission car with cruise control. With all until the BW, touching the clutch pedal would disengage cruise. But I've found that the BW gives you a window to change gears without dropping out of cruise control.

At first I thought it was a good feature; now I'm not so sure. What I've experienced is approaching a red light or stop sign, I sometimes downshift and coast down and I'm finding that that cruise control will jump on the throttle and try to get back up to the set speed.

Honestly, I would turn this feature off if there was a way to.

If you just tap the brakes once, it should disengage. Then just keep coasting/down shifting
Of course. Or push the disengage cruise button on the steering wheel.

None of it helps retrain my decades long habits.
