How often do you have to replace the FOB battery

Mine is a 22 and in the first year I put in 12 batteries in my key fob. The 2450. Lately they have been lasting six months. I just replaced mine and it still was at 2.99v. The new battery read 3.31v.

That seems like a lot of battery replacements to me. Anyone else anal enough to put a multimeter on their FOB battery when you are told by the DIC to replace it?

I own a 2024 CT5 Blackwing and a 2024 CT4 Blackwing, both with 10k miles on them. My CT5 Blackwing is still on the original batteries, my CT4 Blackwing was showing a low battery alert with both key fobs when I bought it last week. I swapped the batteries in both key fobs for the CT4 Blackwing and noticed that one of them already had its battery replaced by the previous owner so I was bit surprised to see both needed battery replacement already.

Still on my original fob batteries for my 22 5BW that’s 41 months old. I keep both in Faraday pouches when not driving, don’t know if that helps by killing any signal to the car and don’t know if this fob goes into sleep mode like some others do to save the battery.

The 5BW is one of 3 fun cars, so it’s very rarely driven as I work from home and don’t daily it. If the fob sleeps, then that could help.

I have 2 Fluke multimeters and use them to check the car batteries especially while on chargers, and check many other things, but can honestly state I have never used them on fob batteries, lol.

Ususaly fob batteries are good for 2-3 years with regular normal use. It also highly depends on the age of battery when new.
You will get a dash alert if the battery is low on a keyfob.

Cant say before me but i'm coming up on 2 years since purchase and the DIC has told me the battery needs to be replaced just now. Have not done it as yet. So definitely not 12 in one year. I do not have Faraday and it is my daily so 4-5 times a week its driven for reference.

I have yet to replace the battery in my 23. I do also keep the key inside the car while parked overnight. Some mornings it tells me no key and I have to physically move it a little and other days it doesn't care. I've read plenty of times elsewhere that leaving the key near will kill the battery quicker since it will continue to connect to the car.

Guess I have much better luck. Haven't replaced my batteries in my 22. I had the orignal batteries in my Expedition's fobs for 6 years. Something isn't right if your replacing batteries monthly.

Close to the 3 year point on my '23 fob with the original battery.

So you literally replaced the fob battery once a month for an entire year? I might have done it once or twice, but based on previous experience with fob battery life, I would have investigated the root cause. Dollar Tree batteries?

If you have a Batteries Plus nearby, they offer a lifetime replacement for I believe $24.99 that I believe covers both fobs.

I replaced both of mine at the 3 year anniversary just for shitz and giggles.
