Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

Doing my part! 😂

With alll this talk about millennials and their lack of desire to drive vehicles with manual transmissions I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the fact that Corvettes are no longer available with a manual. I know they've used the excuse that there isn't room for a third pedal in the C8 but it doesn't seem to bother most. Fact is that Corvettes are purchased primarily by old guys. They have apparently gotten lazy. Take a look at C4 and newer Corvettes for sale. The majority are automatic transmission. Don't blame the millennials!
You're right, let's blame the Boomers instead!

The MK8 VW GTI and Golf R had a 40-50% take rate on manuals in the US. But they killed the manual when the MK8.5 came out this year. There was no additional R&D costs so it seems confusing on why they would give up half their sales.

But I believe there are a few reasons. First, is that although the take rate was high in the US, it was near zero in the rest of the world as manuals are generally associated with cheap cars. So simplification of manufacturing to have just one transmission. Other factor is CAFE numbers. Autos get better mileage so easier to make the CAFE target. VW must have done the math and figured enough people who would get a manual would be just as happy with a DSG. I do not believe that to be true but I am also not in the business of selling cars.

Friend of mine is shopping for a Golf R to replace his GR86. Dealers are adding a 5k markup to them, and the MSRP is already 50k+

One dealer wanted nearly 60k. That's nearing CT4 BW money!

God bless Japan for keeping the manual alive across various models. The land of the rising clutch pedal.

Millennial here, I'd have a manual everything if you could get a truck with three pedals these days.
That was my motivation til the bitter end. In 2018 I knew if I were ever gonna get a new Ram Cummins with 3 pedals, it was gonna have to be that year. Last of the Mohicans.

Still looking for an '05 or '06 Duramax 2500/3500 with the ZF6.

I'd love to see the companies that are swapping Ferrari F1 gearboxes for manual setups tackle recent full size diesel pickups. Heck, even a newish Ranger with a 6spd would be nice. It comes as an option the 4cyl in the Bronco after all...

I like the Bronco, I even cross shopped it before I bought the new Honda Passport.

It's sweet but, pricey and not as daily driver friendly.

Even BMW, Volkswagen and Audi is going away/has gone away from manuals. It's what the buyers want, sadly. I understand it on the C8 since they spent all the money on developing a new DCT transaxle. It's a good unit as well.

It's one of the reasons I got my 1LE when I did, because it was on the way out, my last chance to get a V8+manual. It's also why I snagged the CT4 V BW, get something great with a manual while it's available.

Wish I could get a truck with a manual transmission.

Tacos are all that's left truck wise. Gladiators are no longer made in manuals but there are still a few available brand new. Bronco and Wrangler round out the rest for the big cars with a stick.

I even found a 2018 RAM 2500 Lariat on eBay, low miles, looked great. Manual trans and fully loaded. Dude wanted way too much but, was nice to see one that was all stock and without 300,000 miles.

And you can't get the manual with the better drivetrain. Womp womp. Also don't get me started on Toyota's pricing model, they have gone insane.
