Carbon back seat adjustment

Hi All,

I'm looking at a 2023 CT5-V BW with 10k miles. It has the high performance carbon backed seated, which look awesome. However, when I sat down, the driver's seat felt very narrow, as if the bolsters (especially on the seat back portion) needed to be widened. I tried to adjust them but got very little movement from the bolsters. The passenger seat was much more comfortable and the bolsters appeared to move more.

Are the driver and passenger seats supposed to be typical with respect to size and adjustment?

I'm not a big guy. 6 ft and 165 lbs. Wide shoulders, but no wear near as big as I would've expected to have this issue.

The car is being sold by a non-Cadillac dealer and they aren't going to be good at advising as to whether the seat is functioning properly.

I might buy the car today, so a quick response is appreciated!

From the Good Book...........hope this helps. As fast as I could!

Thank you. This is the procedure I followed without much effect.

Thanks Finally-a-V. If someone who has the carbon backed seats can advise as to whether the passenger seats and the driver seats are supposed to be similar, that would be great.

I know this might sound crazy, but it was almost like the driver's side bolsters were inflated with air such that they were larger than the passenger side bolsters. Is that a thing on these seats?

They should be the same. In fact the high end seats are the same between the 4BW and the 5BW except most 4BW have suede backs. If anything, the driver's seat should be more compliant because it generally gets used more.

I will say others have noted and I 100% agree these seats can take some adjustment to get them comfortable. Also as leather seats they may take a bit to break in.

You may try resetting the car to factory settings to get rid of any lingering settings from the previous owner.

When I bought the car I was 5'11', 255 and the driver's seat was a snug fit but works very comfortably (I'm a bit fatter now and the seat still works fine.)

My issue is that the carbon fiber seat backs produce a lot of very annoying squeaking. The "fix" according to some is adjusting the carbon fiber by putting filler in. Want the dealer to work this not me. Don

I've noticed some squeaking in mine from time to time. I usually turn up the volume on the exhaust to remove it. I doubt I'd be happy with the dealers "fixes" for this issue.

@jbawden ...yes, top 4BW seats are mid tier on the 5BW. How did I miss that?
So there is more/better leather in the expensive seats. Are there any other differences? In the online configurator the only thing that seems to change is the leather material.

William,

To echo Finally I have a 22 with carbon backed seats. I tried them today. With bolsters "relaxed" as much as they could be both seats felt about the same to me in regards to the room provided between bolsters. Im 6 foot and weigh around 195. If the driver seat feels more firm or tight then passenger I would think something maybe amiss.

It just so happens I have (2) 5BW in my garage (said without douche undertones) and honestly I can't tell much difference between the SA top tier seats and the mid-tier seats. I'm 6-3 250lbs and both fit about the same, firm/snug but not uncomfortable.
