Blower lid sound deadening plate

I've heard of no down side to doing this from the Camaros. I've mentioned it previously here somewhere.

I did it on my ZL1 and it wasn't worth the effort IMHO. Maaaaaaaybe a slight increase...Maybe. I am also assuming the efforts by Cadillac to mitigate in cabin noise would decrease the chances of more blower noise even more than the ZL1. Was about a 30-45 minute job because a couple of the lid bolts in the back were a pain to get to. If anyone gives it a shot just a friendly reminder the blower lid bolt torque specs are in inch pounds and not foot pounds. Heard about more than one person snapping bolts trying to torque down using foot pounds!

First of all, the blackwing lid is not the same as the zl1. Have you opened it up to see if it even has that plate? They redesigned the lid for the blackwing. Im guessing thats where they got some of the hp increase

I have not. Something about time and a lack of it....

It would be easier to find a parts schematic of the blower if one were available.

Has anyone done this? Apparently the blackwing lt4 has 3 sound deadening plates.

Curious how much more whine we’d get out of removing them

I did it on my ZL1, made little to no difference. If you want more whine, swap the lid itself with an aftermarket piece.

I did this and a K&N intake. Still not noticeable in the car with the windows up. From outside, I've been told that you can hear it. It's just not loud by design and with the internal coolers things get muffled. My Whippled F-150 with the FP700 is more noticeable. Sadly, the hellcat whine just isn't and can't be there with these. I had to go buy a DDHC to get more sound into the fleet. If you do remove those plates, there's a bolt tightening pattern available online as well if you search for it. And those plates are actually suprisingly heavy, held in with tiny screws that you can turn out by hand. I have no idea how they don't just fall out.

That's true, you will never get the same blower whine as a Hellcat, its just an entirely different design. That being said, you can get a LOT more whine out of the stock blower when its ported, pullied, and with an aftermarket lid.

Yes, with the caveat that with those changes, one would expect to no longer have a powertrain warranty. I wouldn't worry too much about powertrain with just a lid or removing plates and doing an intake but I also wouldn't want to get my hopes up about a significant sound increase with those alone.

If you're worried about warranty then an aftermarket lid is as far as you can go and it will make some difference for sure.
