Anybody running amsoil euro 5w40?

I added a screenshot somewhere here but the amsoil signature series (what I use) has Dexos 3+ approval.
I was looking to use the oil sample as part of my Oil Change process to keep as part of the log and have a formal report from a Lab to document the engine health after each oil change. I know it will be costly to do each time, but maybe will help with future resale to have the records on hand.

I guess another aspect is the GM Dexos matter. I find it odd, that IMHO better products from AMSOIL or Liquid Molly not having the "official" Dexos seal of approval could void the warranty (GM can afford the attorneys to make the case) vs using something as cheap as Costco's Kirkland or Walmart's Supertech oil with the Dexos seal can be used worry free, does not make any sense. Not knocking those oils, but would anyone with a BW actually use it in their cars? Well, if you follow the approved list from GM, your good to go... Site Maintenance.

You should be running 15W-50 on these engines, except in the winter where temperatures get below 40F. For the winter season where I'm regularly running at sub-freezing temps, I run 0W-40. You should not be listening to any OEM recommendations when it comes to oil viscosity. They are compromised by government regulations, which do not consider the environmental impact of replacing your entire engine.

If you don't have time to do the research and learning on TCF and BITOG, here's 3 good summer oils:
  • Mobil 1 Supercar 5W-50 (API SP, 7.7 TBN)
  • AMSOIL Signature 5W-50 (API SP, 12.5 TBN, 4.1 HTHS)
  • HPL Premium Plus Passenger Car 5W-50 (API SP, 13.5 TBN, 4.747 HTHS)
I personally recommend the latter two. Nothing wrong with AMSOIL, although it's outperformed by boutique brands like HPL. AMSOIL is cutting it too close on the calcium concentration IMHO for LPSI (they're right at 1300 PPM whereas HPL PPPC is 1100 PPM and M1 Supercar is 750 PPM).

No matter what oil you're running, I recommend the AMSOIL EAO17-EA oil filter for the LF4 engine.

I use it and think it works just fine? I am surprised that it says Dexos R because Amsoil, I thought didn't bow down and pay the label/branding fee nonsense?
Since AMSOIL does not have the official Dexos Logo on their containers, they did not bow down. This is the crux of the issue. Although AMSOIL indicates it meets or exceeds the DEXOS specification, technically, it is not an approved GM oil on any of the Lists GM provides, Site Maintenance.

Realizing this is hypothetical, if you are the unfortunate person with an engine problem, who used an non-Dexos Licensed oil, and GM denies a warranty claim, good luck winning a court case. But if you used any of the oils with the DEXOS LOGO, you have a fighting chance, this includes Walmart and Costco branded Motor Oils with the paid for LOGO!

Complete nonsense!
