Any way to retro fit the media knob on to MT?

Is there any reason that the media knob isn't on the MT? Like why didn't they pop it in that little cubby, it looks to be the same size as the space taken up by the knob on the AT. they already made the center console smaller & moved the cup holders back, why remove the knob?

Can this be retrofit on to the MT? or does anyone know of an aftermarket "remote" or something like that that can be used with the Google built-in?

I'm curious about this as well. I think it would be interesting to buy a "infotainment controller" and try connecting it to the appropriate CANBUS. I suspect it'll just work.

(What I really want is a way to pause siriusxm via a button -- clearly the infotainment box cannot do this...)

It literally won't fit in the center console. The cupholders are in a different spot than the auto and the manual gear shifter also takes up a different space than the auto shifter.

The radio likely still has an input for it.

I like rotary knobs too. But I don’t miss it. It’s OK with the buttons.

I doubt it, the old volume knob is part of the center console display:

I suspect if you connected an older console display to the appropriate CANBUS the knobs (and home button) would just work.

All things equal I would like to have a volume knob. But the lack of it hasn't been a problem (and I really like the 33" display).

The buttons on the steering wheel of course work fine for the driver, but the lack of knob becomes a challenge for the passenger.

I've found that "Hey Google" is heard clearly by the system no matter the noise in the ambient environment, even if spoken softly.

Unfortunately, with all the different verbal triggers for apps, my wife can get confused (and too often start repeatedly yelling "Hey Siri" at the radio).

Having the microphone icon positioned on the lower right of the bottom shortcuts menu and lower right on the main screen allows her to just push that "button" and then tell the system to turn up or down the volume. She seems to remember that sequence. Almost a physical interaction.
