2024 CT5-V Blackwing
Looking for some help in selecting the best bang for a $20k budget for my 2024 CT5-V Blackwing. Wo

What say you?

Below is what I'm considering so far. I'll also have to pay for labor as I'd rather have a shop do the complete work.

  • Supercharger Gasket Kit
  • Kong Xport Service
  • 2.3" Pulley
  • Gates Green Belt
  • Nick Williams 103mm Throttle Body
  • DSX Fex Fuel Sensor
  • DSX Fuel Line Adapter
  • NGK Spark Plugs
  • HP Tuner MPVI Interface
  • HP Tuners Credits
  • HP Tuners ECM Unlock Fee
  • Schmidty Tuning Fee
  • Dyno Tune Vehicle
  • Aeroforce Gauge and Pod
  • LMP Cold Air Intake
  • LMP Heat Exchanger and LMP Coolant Tank
  • Kooks Headers with Cats and Mid Pipes

Tough to hold back on as I want to stand out even more than other local CT5s at car meets and shows. Financially I’m in a good spot to do this as well.

I think Kong port and LT headers are probably where the biggest gains lie. Many have reported both work with the stock tune. Stock air box is fine unless you really go nuts with heads, cam, etc.

Seems like a poor reason to modify. I would modify the car because you want something extra out of it for your needs. You have a car that is quite special, in stock form that car will not lose much value and be a blast to drive in the mean time. If you chase that attention for modding your car you will get a quick dopamine hit, but it will wear off quick and then require more and more to keep chasing the attention from strangers.

If you want to stand out at a car meet I'd recommend taking your 20k and put it into an older car and restore or retro-mod a classic. I've seen R34 go for just over 20k.

I think that E and a tune are your biggest bang for your bucks.

I don't know the LMP crew, just the videos online. But how about their 15" drag wheel conversion for your "ho.ly.shit!" meetups? After all that other mod stuff, just pop those on and your're the new boss.

Good point my friend....

I'm looking at their rear axle link kit myself. The stock 2024 feels a little gummy back there but I'm not launching or planning to. Just for cornering - and more control if/when she gets wide.

I agree with everything you said except the idea of putting $20K into an older car or a resto-mod. I do close to 100 car shows and cruise-ins each season, and I see all the reliability issues my friends deal with when it comes to older classics.

OP, dropping $20K into the engine isn’t going to make your car stand out any better at shows. If anything, it’ll hurt resale value if you ever decide to sell or trade it in. If your goal is to turn more heads at car meets, you’d get far more bang for your buck by putting that money into cosmetic upgrades—different wheels, a wrap, or other appearance mods that make the car pop.

$20k for a classic car isn't going to get you very far, that isn't enough to even buy something reasonably cool.

Agree with others, I would diversify your budget to other areas of the car and keep the engine mods simple (Kong port and call it good). I know I'm at risk of Chicken Little syndrome, but the LT4 failure rate is compelling, so I would consider your budget to include out of pocket repairs should you win the unlucky lottery and have a failure. Just because you have $20k for engine mods doesn't mean you should.
