Oil filter brand

Anybody go with the K&N filter over the Ac Delco filter for there oil change? I’m about to make my first one an was wondering if anyone made the switch.

ACD is perfectly fine filter.

I have used K&N for years. I like the nut on the end to help with removal

Yes I started a break-in oil change this weekend and plan on switching to the K&N, but I ran into a snag already, I can't seem to get the factory can off. I've tried several different filter wrenches and can't budge it. I don't want to do the screwdriver through the middle (if that fails you're screwed). Anyone else run into this ? If so, how is this resolved ?

Have you tried oil filter pliers? Factory oil filter on my Ram 6.7CTD was impossible to get off with normal oil filter wrenches, so bought a pair and easy-peasy

Yea I tried some pliers but they weren't Channellocks, grabbed some smaller cheapies from a local home improvement store (junk). Wasn't aware Channellock made those, thanks for the tip

I'm a Wix XP guy myself, but there's a lot of reputable brand out there.

I learned the other day that the XP Wix filters are designed for the extended change intervals in modern cars. The filtering performance isn't as good on a micron level as the non XP filter. I thought the XP was just better all around, but for some it may not be.

True, but I've read that the XP is better for synthetic oils. I'll look into this more.

Everyone here should probably be doing shorter intervals (3000-5000 mi) so the OEM filter would be fine unless there's some test results that show WIX, Mobil 1, etc perform better.

Considering this car runs great on Mobil-1 5-30, it's a pretty cheap oil change.

I do 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
