Blown Engine(add me to the list)

I ended up getting the best and easiest deal from Dennis Fitchner. He's been selling extended warranties forever and I've gotten a bunch from him with no issues. Factory extended warranty.

I was just curious what overlap it would have with the factory warranty power train warranty. I know the original b2b factory warranty needs to be in place to get the extended warranty but what does the 6/72 factory power train warranty cover? Just engine I guess?

Factory powertrain is 6 yr/72k miles. It cover the powertrain, so transmission, diff, engine, etc. Clutch is a wear item, so not covered except in freak defect type situations that can be proven somehow.

I like the full extended warranty. Powertrain is expensive, but so are all the electronics, etc.

Powertrain is 6 yr/70K miles, but at least with an extended warranty, it "should" cover almost everything, but especially electronics. I think that's really the bigger issue long term with new cars.

I was looking at extended warranty options through McMulkin but isn't there a power train warranty from the factory good for 6 years/72k miles?
I just bought my 7yr/56000 mile $100 deductible warranty from MacMulkin in NH. They had the best price around for $1800. I posted their complete price list somewhere in the forum under extended warranty. Atlantic Cadillac wanted $3800 !!! Paul Conte offered friend/family price (friends of the owner) at $2300. ( So its actually more.) Its been almost a month since purchased just before the price increase on May 1st. They said that there is no actually paperwork when you buy it, but it will show up in the dealer computer showing you have the extended warranty. Later on, they will send an email confirming the purchase.

Got my blackwing back this afternoon. Sewell was phenomenal with getting everything expedited. They starting installing the new engine Monday morning.

The service tech stated GM will probably be pissed about paying the price of a new LT4, the labor, plus the labor of tearing down the old engine.

Put about 50 miles on it and it drives great.

Jeesh...Don't have quality issues on your performance products! 40k all in costs...ouch!

I just put 0W-50 into my 5BW and warranty is now good to go! lol

Have similar stories with corvettes over the years. GM just fixes them no worries. Back in 16 Z06s where blowing motors because of shavings in the oil filters. Knew 2 guys who got new cars. I traded an 8 month old corvette to a dealer friend...... it crapped out when they went to start it, I felt really bad, as he was a friend. Said not to worry happens frequently!!! ??? Got a new engine and the next owner was excited to have a fresh engine. Gone are the days of matching numbers cars.

I will continue to drive my Car as it was intended. The rev limiter is installed to make sure I do not over rev my engine ! If for some reason my "Handbuilt" motor meets its maker as it seems too many have experienced; I will be pissed off ! Then I will have my dealer deal with it, and join this list and explain my disatifaction with the parts installed (Lifters) Curious if there is a common/ similar mileage that this is happening ?

Well tonight, the wife and I were coming home from dinner, you could add us to the list. A flawless car never an issue. Ran it hard on the way home down the interstate coming home within 2 miles at 45 miles an hour heard a noise wife says what’s that look down at the oil pressure fluctuating Went to zero all over 18,000 miles. What a shame love this car.

Oh man so sorry to hear...didn't you just get the TSB work done a couple of months ago for the engine surging issue?

@Slick Blackwings that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear it. These are amazing cars, it is so annoying that they come with this 'Sword of Damocles' engine. I have added you to the actual "list" linked below. You've got a 22 and 24 in your profile... which one failed?

22 Automatic, we really don’t drive the 24 as it’s a manual and preferred the automatic. Truly a real setback as that was our getaway car for weekends and long trips.

Concerning some of these failures are happening at more than $15k miles....I thought most of the failures happened within 3k miles or so

Sorry to read this. It seems these failures are a variety of different things. Please keep us posted on the specific problem. My first thought was maybe that drain plug blew out that has been problematic on 25s, amd you lost all the oil. But I don't recall that happening on 22s.

It seems like a lot of the bottom-end failures happen at low miles, but @CT5BWenthusiast had rod bearings go at 21,000. Issues with lifters seem to be something that could happen any time. Though for context I'm still tracking 'only' 15 reported failures on this forum from MY22-24

Got the call motor seized tight! LOL I could’ve told them that. Now Cadillac wants them to drop oil pan! What a waste of time cut oil filter open end of story. Car actually had 20 K+ not that much matters.

That is so disappointing! I'm at 12k miles and kind of thought my car was out of the woods but I guess not.
