V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2024 CT5V Blackwing, Coastal Blue Metallic M6
2024, Manual transmission. 21,000 miles.

Last Thursday I did a pull on the freeway check engine light flashed but went away within seconds. Drove the vehicle over the weekend with no problems. Woke up Monday morning for my 3 mile commute to work and heard a very distinct tick. When I got off from work started the vehicle and heard the tick again opened the hood, look around and the tick was coming from the left side of the engine.

Got it to Sewell the next morning and the service guy immediately noticed the ticking. Called me Wednesday and told me lifter in bank 5 malfunctioned and pushrod bent. Stated GM advised to replaced the bank of lifters.

Got the call today that upon the service tech inspecting the full teardown, more damage was found and he was recommending a new LT4.

Of course I'm pissed. Called and opened a case with customer care., only impressive thing is with the damage I couldn't tell driving except for the ticking.

Ugh!! My sympathies.

Well let me be the first to make excuses for the manufacturer (which happens way too often around here). "Well, all manufacture's have issues don'tcha know..." "Hey the LT4 6.2s don't have anything to do with the L87 and it isn't even conceivable that the LT4 may have a similar issue to the recalled L87s." "Just ask GM, the L87 is totally fixed and the LT4 doesn't have the same issue."

All joking aside, I sure hope GM goes to great lengths to try and make this right with you. I just barely got out of the Goat Rodeo and a blown engine like this would be absolutely crushing. 21,000 miles? Absolutely shameful! Please keep us posted on how they deal with your issue.

Sorry to read this. At least you will get a brand new motor.

Yup, I don't know....I just dropped my oil and filter with Heavy Magnets all the way around the bad boy! The amount of Iron Powder has been of concern. I am breaking in a BRAND new 3.0l Diesel and pulled the filter on that with 1k miles typical break in was noted and was actually very clean? Compared to a GM V8 break in at similar miles I was impressed how the little diesel looked? Now the LT4 has taken me back with amount of iron powder in that can. Normally, my vehicles show the Iron powder fines diminishing over subsequent changes. Quite the opposite on my Lt4 progressively getting worse? Not sure what to think as I am still progressively breaking in the engine.....

I just watched a You Tube video of an engine block out of a 2024 Escalade with "FOUR" miles on it ! It had a broken rod connector . Upon inspection it appears that the wrist pin was not seated correctly. Then they find the wrist pin clip broken inside the engine. Its amazing how such a small part will grenade an engine. My brother in law is currently looking for a used car and he is looking at alot of Chevy's with the 6.2's. I am a Chevy fan ,but I am recommending that he look at a Ram truck instead. Getting a 6.2 will be a flip of a coin on a future disaster.

Same here and have nothing but great experiences with GM V8's but obviously something fell apart after during and after COVID.....

Put over 115000 miles on my 2016 Camaro SS with no issues. It's gotta be something going on with their supplies/parts since Covid.

I would just be worried about "who" is installing the new engine and do they know what they are doing. At the assembly line it goes like clockwork how things are installed. Once its all together it can be a nightmare to work on.

They told me irs their best guy who has done many LT4s. They said when he did the full teardown he went to the foreman and advised it's best to do a new engine.

My salesman busted his v3 engine after nodding it and the same guy installed his new block and its been running with no issues.

I am gonna push GMyo extend the power train and bumper to bumper warranty due to the major repair.

My brother pushed Mercedes to extend his warranty after a brand new 2024 ECU issue and he had to wait over 2 months to get his car back. It costs the dealership nothing to give that courtesy.
