Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

A10 4 or 5BW Owners, how do ya really feel!

Dumb question: with the A10 do you still need to step on the brake to engage the parking brake or is being in P enough?

The M6 makes you do clutch, as well as brake, which is overkill, so was wondering.
Personally, I have never engage the parking brake. Sometimes, I don’t even press the P and go straight to engine off button. I do this on my BMWs all the time.

I, too, have A10 in my 4BW. It’s my DD, so makes no sense to have a manual. I’ve had a DCT on my F10 M5, F82, and F86. I’ve had extensive seat time in PDK (non GT cars). And IMHO, the A10 in the BW is just as good as those other automatics. I have never driven M6 on the 4BW, but I can’t imagine that it is better than my 981 GT4. Therefore, I am more than satisfied with my A10 4BW.

I've driven 987s and 997s manuals and they aren't any good. I've driven 981s and 991gts manuals and they are good, big improvement especially the 991. None are as good as the manual in the 4bw for what I look for in a manual. Perhaps the 981 gt4 is better than the 991gts but I haven't driven one.

Matter fact, I have both 981 gt4 and 991.1 c4 gts 7MT. The GT4 is 10x better than .1 gts. If you are ever in the DC area, you are more than welcome to drive them back to back and see for yourself. With all the praises I have been reading on this forum, I better find me a manual BW to test drive.

On my 5V, the e parking brake will automatically engage when I am on an incline and put it in park.

Parking Brake only requires pressing brake. Starting the vehicle requires both brake and clutch.
