Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

What "don't" you like about your BW"?

Driving mode indication it would be nice to have an indication in dash ,which mode were in ,touring ,sport, track etc
It’s there, but it’s small. Right about the middle of the dial that shows the gear and the rpm/speed you can see a smallish icon that changes it shape as you change the mode setting. For example in my mode it will show an icon of a head, the other modes show other icons. Look at the dash and cycle through the modes and you will see the icon change.

I don't know how this thread popped up on the main page but I've never came across since being on the forum since December of last year. It should have stayed burried as I have now been ruined by some of these quirks. I would have never noticed any of these but now this stuff is going to drive me nuts after noticing driving today.

Specifically the turn signal lights not syncing with the indicator and the actual stalks on the column. Those two are going to drive me nuts now after noticing. Mfers

Wait till you try to make a turn and the turning radius sucks !!

The steering feel is kind of numb. Don't get me wrong, this car turns like a beast and grips harder than your body can handle. But the steering feel ain't there buddy.

Yeah, I hear what your saying and then when you tighten it up and really start getting aggressive it feels REALLY GOOD. Lumbering around town it's got some numbness no doubt then when you drive another car/truck especially a Toyota my god you want to talk numbness it makes you appreciate the BW a little more as to how much road feel you actually do get from this Electric Power Steering crap of the last 20+ years!

I installed a pigtail for one under the hood. Is that ok?
Totally fine. The lugs under the hood are meant for 100's of amps in the event of a jump start, so a couple of amps to maintain the battery is fine. For some reason there are folks that are hesitant to use these for battery maintenance, but apply some basic wiring logic and you'll conclude its fine like I did.

That the heated steering wheel and heated seats come on automatically. Is there a way to turn this off?

Mine come on automatically but only at lower external temperatures. If I ever feel they are too much I just tap the buttons to turn them off. The biggest drawback to my ATS-V was that the V controls negated the ability to have a heated steering wheel. I am very happy to have it on the CT4-V BW. And I am in SoCal so can't imagine how handy it is in most of the country where it drops below 50's at night.

Yes. It's in the infotainment system somewhere. Sorry I don't know exactly where but I remember seeing it and calling it out to my wife.

It blows my mind that people still ask basic questions about their own car that are answered in the owner's manual, or just by looking through the settings.

That's like asking for directions to your own house while standing in your driveway holding a map.

So true, I’m expecting any minute someone to ask how to tie their shoes. I’m not sure if people are lazy, just don’t know how to search or use ChatGPT, or hit their head too hard. Either way, not a good outcome.

Yeah, but sometimes the answer can be replied to on here in 5 seconds and is just more efficient, too. Sometimes you need a lawyer to translate what the owners manual is saying.
Look it up first. If you still don't understand, then ask. It's just being lazy. The question made someone *else* look up in *their* owner's manaual and copy and paste the page. I would be mortified to ask someone to do for me what I could do for myself in literally 30 seconds.

Self-reliance is a lost art.

You don’t even need the PDF manual. Type this into ChatGPT, “Cadillac CT5, explain how to use the controls on the ventilated seats.” I have an idea, when answering questions on the forum, instead of providing the answer, I’ll just provide the text of what to search for.

I've been on several automotive forums over the years and I have a theory about this one. Cadillac owners are disproportionately old farts, one heartbeat away from Depends. I can't believe there can be 16 pages of grievances about this wonderful car. I have more complaints about this forum by a long shot.

Well…I’m one of those “old farts a heartbeat away from Depends.”

I’ve owned four Camaros (including two ZL1s), a C8 Stingray, and I currently have a Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0 sitting next to my 5BW. Out of all the so-called sports cars I’ve had, the Blackwing has the fewest annoyances.

I only have two real complaints:
  1. Why a $100K car didn’t include the rear camera mirror as standard equipment.

I’ve got front and rear cameras and the full 360° view, but somehow ended up with a basic rearview mirror. Makes no sense.
  2. The wireless phone charger.

With my old iPhone 15 Pro Max, it would only charge if it was positioned perfectly. Hit a bump or take a turn and it would slide just enough to stop charging.

I’ve since upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro Max, but I put the BW away for the winter before I could test it. So who knows—maybe the problem’s already solved. I’ll find out in the spring.

And if you really want to talk annoyances, give me an extra 30 minutes to go over the Porsche.
