Working on a new release of our bespoke titanium lug nuts. These will be available in black.

Custom designed to fix the sunken in front lug nut appearance on the OEM wheels. Standard 19mm sizing creates added clearance around the lug pockets and reduces the chance for marring the wheel since the socket does not need to go in as far.

Machined from Grade 5 titanium and about half the weight of OEM. You can anticipate pricing around $495 for the set, but may fluctuate slightly.

I will update the site this soon for purchasing

Very slick! I'll take a set.
Sweet! The link is below. Production is about to start next week

How durable is the PVD black coating? I will be swapping wheels often (I have different tires for track). I like the black lugs but I figure the raw titanium will hold up better to repeated (ab)use.

Any coating on titanium is subject to being worn down over time. Raw titanium will maintain that basically forever.

If you had to compare the two, then raw would win for sure. However, a 12 point socket that only makes contact at the corner of the hex wont really be wearing down much surface area. I think you will be good wither way since most of the lug nut will be in the wheel recess.

Raw it is then. Will place my order!

Anyone have pics of these on BW wheels? I am interested to see how the longer fronts lugs look on stock wheels.

I’m curious as well
Here is an example of the longer lug nut compared to the stock ones that are sunken in. This is not the current closed ended piece, but it shows how everything is made to sit flush with the wheel face and reduce how deep you need to go into the recess to get engagement on the lug nut.

Anyone received their lug nuts yet? Looking to order some and curious how they’d look on bronze wheels.

I just received an email that they plan to ship early next week. I will take pics but I do not have bronze wheels.

As promised, here are pics of the Blackwing logo titanium lug nuts installed on stock wheels. I went with the raw finish and long front lugs. Both the front (long) and rear (short) lugs stick further out of the holes than the stock lugs. One of the pics has just one single short titanium lug in the rear so you can compare the length to stock.

The long lugs stick out further on the front wheel than the short lugs do on the rear wheel. I think the rear lugs have the right amount of poke but the long lugs stick out a bit too far. They would be better if they matched the same poke as the rear lugs. You could also go with the short lugs up front as they are recessed into the holes more similar to the look of the stock lugs. I think I prefer the shorter lugs up front but the longer lugs make getting an impact gun on the them much easier. Since I change my wheels a dozen times a year, I am going with what is functionally better. One of the pics is of the front wheel with both a long lug and short lug so you can decide for yourself which you prefer for the fronts.

Other things to consider:
- these titanium studs are narrower than the stock lugs. You use a 19mm socket instead of a 22mm socket.
- since they are made of a dissimilar metal from the studs, Terrance recommends using ARP High Torque grease when installing. This means using a lower torque when tightening. He recommends 135ft-lbs (instead of 140ft-lbs).
- these lugs are very light. The longer titanium ones feel much lighter than the smaller stock steel lugs.

am i crazy to assume these work with OEM wheels only? aftermarket wheels and lugs seem to have a narrower lug seat. so i am guessing this matches OEM and not aftermarket? Or all they all the same for the 5BW?

Cannot confirm but realize that these cars utilize 14mm studs which are normally associated with 3/4-1 ton trucks. Most cars use 12mm so you may be attributing smaller seat to that.
You would have to conclude that any manufacturer listing a BW application would match OEM lug diameter and seat taper.
I have a set of these on order, quite looking forward to seeing them.

My experience has been both. Aftermarket’s options can vary on correct lug nut styles.
