2026 allocation

If we're honest, aside from the colors and special editions, the 4BW has been the same car since it debuted. Which is fine with me, they don't really need to change anything.
We have observation bias considering we paid actual money for one, lol. I like the car, but let's not pretend it's perfect.

There's a lot of improvement areas IMO, at the very least give me the darn power folding mirrors that's actually shown in owner's manual.

And truth be told, it is behind its competition, and sales numbers reflect that, it's selling worse than even the Optiq. Heck, the CT4 couldn't even survive in China, where they pretty much buy anything. They discontinued in for 2024.

I feel a minor front fascia update and bump the power could revive it a little bit. Make it a true m3 competitor

It'll help, but there's more that needs to be done IMO. There's a reason why they avoided the competition and sent the CT5 to compete with the M3 marketing-wise instead of the CT4. They were likely given a shoestring budget as all the development money went to the EVs, and had to make do with just a refreshed ATS and CTS, because that's what the CT4 and 5 really are.

The most common complaint about the CT4 was the rear seat space, which they can easily solve by using the ATS-L as a base to refresh to the CT4 with the extra wheelbase, but that probably cannibalized CT5 sales since that would bring it within an inch of wheelbase, also part of the reason they didn't do a CT4-L in China this time, an eventually cancelling it.

And I felt they should've made the CT4 a liftback just like the Escala concept to differentiate it with the CT5. CT4 would've then competed perfectly with the current Audi A5/S5, which also is a liftback. Again, likely limited by development costs.

Interesting experience for me on a ‘26 order compared to what I have been reading here for a long time.

Started out with a stop into the dealer for service and then a discussion with the new car sales manager. Expressed interest with putting an order in and he told me it was unlikely to get an allocation. I asked if we could put one in anyway to see what happens and he agreed. I had the spec I wanted in my head so it took less than 5 minutes. He told me he would keep in touch. I have never shopped there for a car before, went once for service at that point. They have also have never sold a 5BW. This was in late June this year.

Stopped in a month or so later and checked in. Sales manager said he was told they need to earn the allocation by selling a 5BW. He asked how they can earn one if they can’t sell one? I laughed and shook my head. Told him I would stay in touch. Get a call another month later telling me the order was accepted and CF1 & 2 plus the CF seatbacks is available if I wanted. Said ok.

Got the automated email from GM a week later confirming the order. Got an email today saying production is scheduled for week of 9/22. Still a lot of steps but surprised at the pace here.

Where in Illinois? Maybe they sold another one for me :)

Just got an email from Cadillac saying my order was officially accepted/received!
Congrats!

Meanwhile the chatbot is still giving me the same dreaded "not accepted by GM" spiel...

There's always next week I guess, lol.

Are these 2026 models taking forever to get shipped after production, or would anyone even know yet? Just got to 3800 on my CT5BW last week

That is no longer answer! Order a 24 from him never heard anything until car was in production. Flew down to pick up the car never met him! Have placed an order for a 26 months ago have not heard a word. Not the same KING as before.
I had a very different experience. Ordered a 25 from him, called me to confirm the build when the allocation was ready, and kept me in the loop during the build process. Once it arrived I flew in and he picked me up from the airport. Was a great experience!

How far did you have to travel from Dallas to get your new ride home & how did that go with the whole break in procedure?

1400 miles back to SoCal. Briefly went to Mexico and learned 5th gear tops out at 150. I followed the break in for about 100-200 miles then said screw it and went full send. Very fun road trip 😁

Another day... another same response from the bot, lol.

There something wrong with you? you act like a child

I waited almost 3 years for my first allocation... I never bothered to inquire any more than every 6-12 months with my Dealer. Youre checking a useless system twice daily it seems

I check once a week.
I don't expect change but its fun to check.

It sounds very odd to me to order a car and not inquire on it for 6-12months. Maybe it was some Gordon Murray car or F40/F50 level vehicle, but these are mass produced toys. Especially odd when there is a bot you can interact with to check and it doesn't take up anyone's time but your own... and like 30s of time.

To reiterate, my salesperson told me "he would have an update for me in 2 weeks", and 3 weeks in it was still radio silence and I still didn't bug him and rely on automated tools offered by GM themselves.

I don't know how I am considered annoying or deserved to be called names, just following up on what was promised, and posting here for transparency. Don't like it? Go read something else.

Lets start with your "sales guy" has no clue. Deal with the new car sales manager, who may also not know, but atleast he'll share his frustrations with the GM ordering system with you. You can also deal directly with the GM or OM of the Dealership if youre getting no answers.

Secondly, you obviously are not familiar with the allocation system that many US manufacturers employ, learn it as best as you can. But rest assured that GM wants to sell every car they can within the US, they dont want to sell these cars into Canada so pestering anyone here will just result in frustration on both sides.

Which brings me to my next point, 98% of the active users here are in the US, they dont care about how your Canadian ordering experience goes as it has no relevance to them.

What name were you called?

All I can say, just by how you formulate your thoughts and articulate yourself on this forum, you dont strike me as someone with the capital to purchase a ~$150K car, I get the inpression that your 22, super excited that your dad is potentially buying this car and youve come along for the experience in a way that makes you believe your the buyer.

Just my impression.
