Started my 4BW this morning to head out to work and was greeted with the attached message. The parking break did not respond to the release button, nor would it release automatically upon trying to move like it should. Tried a few restarts and the caliper remains seized!

Has anyone run into this or found a fix? I ran a search on the forum and found reference to someone needing to get codes cleared at the dealer, but I’d like to avoid a tow to the dealer if at all possible.

As a last resort before involving the dealer, I would do battery disconnect for a half hour or so.

Yes, I had this exact issue happen to me once in my ‘25 4BW although it was my initial fault. I forgot to neutral check, let off the clutch too fast on startup (without disengaging the ebrake), and stalled the car and seized the parking brake at the same time with that warning. It look me a few resets, including a hard reset which meant opening the door and moving the key fob away. Then, in accessory mode, I held down the ebrake button for a good 15 seconds, started up the engine, and it was free. No brakes engaged and no lights. Hope this helps.

Wow this is super helpful - and we’ve all been there on startup! Weirdly enough, when I got back home from work yesterday (after having to take our three row SUV for my commute, yuck) the issue had miraculously resolved itself! The system must’ve hard reset on its own throughout the day.

Will definitely keep your protocol in mind should the issue reappear in the future though. I was lucky it happened at home, it would have been a real inconvenience if it seized up when I was out somewhere and there was no way to fix it quickly.

The system is designed to disengage automatically if you attempt to drive off with the break :)still on. Maybe there is a flaw in the system or it's just another anomaly in Global B. I don't see how the p-brake could seize in this situation, rather I think its just not getting the signal to release.
