DSX Lid Whine Results

I put on a MPI lid on my Z06 in about 20minutes, cant imagine the Blackwing would be any longer. Swap the gasket over and just remove a few bolts.

I'd just be sure the lid will fit, I know on the C7 the lid design changed a little after 2017 and the hood liner also had to be changed since it was raised if you bought an older style lid. But the C7 has a low hood, I'm sure the Blackwing has room in the engine bay that it doesn't matter but the vendor should be able to tell you if the lid is compatible.

Just as a thought as to not spending $1000 on a basically cosmetic lid I just removed the 3 sound deadening plates on my lid. Hellcat whine? definitely not but a slight noise gain. I figured I would try that while I was installing my Kong ported supercharger housing and 103 throttle body. Now that was worth every penny I spent on it:happyanim:

The porting of the supercharger probably resulted in a good bit of the extra wine that you were hearing, more so than removing the plates.

What did you think about low end torque? My used 22 had a ported blower and throttle body when I bought it and I feel like my stock 24 has more torque down low.

Revs sooo much faster than stock. Hit rev limiter first time out, wasn't ready for such responsiveness. Around town driving you'll never know the difference. I am getting it dynoed as soon as weather breaks here in NJ. On the fence about getting a tune until my warranty expires.

Also purchased a 2.20 pulley but that too sits on shelf until warranty expires

FWIW, came across this yesterday:

I have not driven a C7Z or Gen6 ZL1 to know how much louder that is than stock, but from what little experience I do have with those cars, this for sure sounds louder.

Wish the guy had at least 1 clip at full throttle but whatcha gonna do.

The price of the NX lid is no doubt high, so quite a bit of hard earned cash for just the sound increase. At that point you're maybe 25-30% of the way to a 3.0L Whipple... And it does look a little funny under the hood vs the stock piece. Not to mention having to tell curious onlookers you don't actually run nitrous but have an NX part.

I have to say I agree with you @coffee_time, the powertrain warranty is just too important to me. Rather have it than not.

That said what "bolt ons" mods would be considered "acceptable" under the cars powertrain warranty? If any? Does a new LID void the warranty?

Does a bolt on catch can, which to me performs an important task in the performance and condition of SC, its cooling bricks void the warranty? IDK?
does Cadillac sell a catch can or are they all aftermarket?

Aftermarket.

Installing a catch on the LT4 can poses a potential risk to the powertrain warranty, as it requires a notable alteration to the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system. For high-horsepower builds, the addition of a catch can is justified due to its ability to reduce crankcase pressure and minimize oil vapor contamination in the intake tract. However, on an otherwise stock engine, the benefits are marginal and the modification introduces unnecessary warranty exposure.

Before you add one, I'd suggest to search more here on the topic. One of the engineers of the BW who is also a member here had much to say about it and why they didn't need it.

Aftermarket only, as some here have already answered. There is some back and forth and it appears it could void the warranty if added to the vehicle and your dealer is an ass about it when they see it?

Its not cut in stone as far as I know, may be in the small print somewhere, it's a bolt on feature?

Some folks smarter than I have weighed in on the lack of needing it in our version of LT4...... @hawk02 has a good opine on the matter.

I'd like to add it at some point, I believe it does help keep the SC cooling bricks from getting mucked up with oil and that can't be a bad thing right?.....LUK what you come across if you will on your research. Cheers!

Here’s a video showing the installation of an Elite catch can on a 6th Gen Camaro ZL1. It should give everyone a good idea of what’s involved and why this modification could pose a risk to your powertrain warranty.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the bolts securing the supercharger (not the lid bolts) are torque-to-yield. This means you’ll need a new set of bolts to reinstall the supercharger. As a result, removing the catch can for warranty work won’t be a simple process.
