Window tint advice

I dont know what number my tint is, but is one step darker than just clear. It is ceramic and the heat rejection works a ton better than that $1200 "thermal glass" that was on my AMG. It was the lightest shade they had.
Also, pant correction and Ceramic Pro installed...

I went to the tint shop yesterday, I had every intention of going with a 20% rear window, and 35% on both sides. When I get there, I'm talking with the guy that runs the place, telling me that 35% is very light, and 20% would be perfect... I had 20% on my Audi and loved it, but having a black car, I didnt want it too dark. I go with the 20% all around, and hate it. It has that "murdered out" look. This car was a classy escort, now I feel like she looks like a inner city crack whore. I asked the guy there if we could peel both sides, leave the back 20% and redo the sides with 35%, he said "its your money, I'll do whatever you want". It would be another $250 to redo it. I left, hopefully it grows on me in the next couple days, Idk...

With the extra money you make selling crack you’ll enjoy having the tint. For a different look on a black car I might be tempted to go with Huper Optik tint. I had that on my gray AMG and thought it looked great. It has a gold hue to it.

When it comes to Tint I have two main objectives, KEEP HEAT OUT and see well at night. I went with 20% all around and 70% on the front windshield. With the skycool gray seats the lighter interior it doesn't give my raven black car a too dark appearance which avoids unnecessary attention. As for the privacy aspect the 20% definitely does make it harder to see in. I am that guy who honks and waives at all my neighbors as I drive by, only to discover that they can't see me and don't know who is waving at them. LOL

The Xpel Plus ceramic tint is supposed to keep out the max amount of heat. We shall see how it works As for the view at night, three things, At the 20% it's pretty good visibility in the mirrors, two the car puts out an absolute ton of light to the rear when in reverse, and three the cornering lights actually work and make a visible difference.

JOHNSON or LLUMAR CERAMIC. 35% On the windshield and sunroofs, 20% on all the sides and rear. Depending on angle, it's not as dark as it appears. I've had this combination on my last 6 vehicles.

For me 20% on front doors when raining = not a good time which is why I did them in 35% and 20 % on everything else.

Does anyone happen to have pics of tinted or "smoked" headlights/taillights? I'd love to see it before I commit.

this is 35%. brand is "give me the cheapest please" no issues at night. my friends have 20% and 5% and both are much darker. looks better from the outside in the sun but I would never go that dark.

cost was ~$250 I think for all 4 sides plus back window. nothing on the windshield.
Looks good. Where did you get the black badges? Do you have the main logos done as well?

Side badges I bought off ebay. They're metal and good quality. Front and rear I bought new ones from a GM parts site and took them apart to spray myself. They came out great. Here's the thread or search for black emblems there's a few threads floating around where I posted pics

I kinda regret doing 20% on my windshield. I feel like Stevie Wonder driving at night. 🤣

I did an early-2000’s era AMG style air-blue tint on mine to avoid looking too “hard.” 😂. It helped with the heat down here a lot.

That looks great! I don't like black/smoke on a black car. The blueish hue is perfect. Do you have more specs on what you did?

Oh gosh - Thanks! It’s basically windshield tint but I asked for it to be put on the side windows instead. Llumar Air 80 is the name brand although there are a lot of options that do the same thing with different names. I did it to my last black car too…I like the contrast and the “mildness” of the look 😅
