On my truck, I let it run down to 10-15%. On the Blackwing...well, I prepaid for two oil changes a year, so by god they're going to change my oil twice a year. Having said that, I did the first change at like 1500 miles, and then again in the fall before I put it in storage for the winter. Probably around 6200 miles. This spring I changed it right away, and will change it again in the fall, unless the OLI tells me otherwise.

When the indicator says oil life % is getting low, I change it. You track it, change it more often...

I send it out to Blackstone for their opinion on the sample for a few bucks more....

Have you seen what a new crate LT4 is priced at? Bullet proof for the most part, maintenance is 90% of the battle.

Document EVERYTHING. $$$ you may want to sell one day. Or keep, and still document your work...
Hardly bulletproof. AFM/DoD/DFM failures since 2014. Plus we're seeing some engines eat themselves. There's a few threads already on 5BW engine failures on this very forum. Everyone makes junk these days, including Toyota/Lexus.

The GM Oil Life indicator uses both time and mileage (as well as a bunch of other factors) as core parts of how it calculates remaining life. Even if you drive 0 miles, it will make you change the oil once a year.
does the oil life go down rapidly under track days? i always assumed these "modern" oil life indicators are just timers counting miles and days.

Definitely not just a timer. Complicated algorithms based on engine data (Including time) are in play to calculate oil life.

Oil life went from 100% to 96% after around 150 track miles and 100 highway miles.

Coming up on 8% life for the oil on the Oil Life Indicator. Just curious when most people elect to change the oil & filter.
Every 2k miles but my car is on full e and I don’t drive it all the time

I have free oil changes for Life !! I look at my oil on the dipstick and smell it, then change it according to my Driving Habits... Before Track Day, when I feel like getting a loaner; so far way earlier then indicator suggests..... BUT I have not thought about Dif fluid... hmmm can we get some feedback on that, and I'm guessing thats not included in my FREE OIL Changes.

That's silly. Everyone knows you can't tell by smell; you have to taste it. 😅
