V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2024 CT5VBW
As I've narrowed down my search for a '25 BW, curious for those of you with both generations - what were your must have options? And perhaps, looking back - what were options that you think you would have left off if you would do it again?

Must have - Manual

I have every option but the sunroof If I recall correctly. Sunroof was something I was looking for but it was not going to sway me all by itself. I have had on many cars and like but I can not say I miss it on the BW. In all honestly after having the car the way its optioned I do not think I would want to leave off anything.

When I was looking CCB and carbon backed seats where not really on my list. Now that I have them though be hard to go without.

One feature I needed to NOT have was the sunroof. The 4BW has very little headroom so losing 2+ inches for the sunroof was not an option.

Also many have said the Alcantara wheel was a pain to keep from becoming a gross mess of oil and gunk so I did not spec that even though it seems like a good idea when new to match the rest of your Alcantara interior.

Typhoon Metallic

Tan interior

6MT

Parking package

Bronze Calipers (not a deal breaker, but wanted)

I got really lucky finding one with all of that after a year of searching for those exact specs. Kinda crazy (to me) how it went down.

Couldn’t find it ANYWHERE… then I bought a house up in the Mountains, and about a week later I find the exact car listed on JD Power for some reason, and being delivered to the closest dealership nonetheless! I thought it had to be a scam phishing from my search history or something. But sure as death and taxes there it was. Two months later I got to take this baby home.

Edit: I just saw the what would I leave off or what would I have wanted. I wanted the bronze rims, but just had some made (get em sometime this month). The carbon I could take or leave, though I do wish I had the spoiler in a gloss black. Other than that I wouldn’t change a thing. I love this car.

Manual absolutely. Thats a 100% no compromise option

Beyond that I'd also want Typhoon metallic and Natural interior. I would also like bronze calipers and wheels.

I had a '23 and due to constraints was unable to get the natural interior. After waiting 18 months to order I didn't want to wait longer so I took black because GM wouldn't let you decouple the carbon from the seat. They eventually let you delete the carbon later in '24 but until that point it was impossible to order Natural without the carbon seat backs so if the carbon was on constraint you were SOL.

Now I won't accept any compromises. I've been through that rodeo and I won't do that again. Mind you its better these days and I wouldn't have any issue ordering one to my specs, but still.

Only must-haves were a manual and the SCG seats. Everything else was a want (including sunroof) and I was able to order the exact car. I'm not too tall but my kids are over 6' and don't have trouble fitting.

Must have: V-8, manual transmission, sunroof, blind spot indicators, any color but.......see below.
Have nots: Black or Cyber Yellow, rear camera mirror, suede steering wheel (absolute deal breaker)
On the fence, but glad I got it : PDR, red seat belts.
Would have liked: CCB

My ONLY regret was not getting the Performance Data Recorder. Did not need any of that expensive carbon fiber. I just 3M wrapped what could have been carbon fiber and saved myself a ton of money and worries if I were to damage the parts, that you will have a helluva time replacing, if damaged.

If you want your 2025 to be as close to a 2026 as possible, get the Parking Package and PDR. Both are standard on 2026 models.

Note the order guide shows PDR a ‘S’ but I am not convinced that is not a typo. They have not announced it as standard and the update notes do not indicate the change to standard. Guess we will wait until 2026 config goes live to know for sure.

Must haves included manual, red seat belts, Alcantara wheel, performance seats, sunroof, tech bronze wheels.

Did not care about any of the carbon fiber packages, for various reasons, added cost being one of them.

I was exclusively looking for a lightlly used '24 I wanted the CF1/CF2 and bronze wheels, Carbon seats were definitly a bonus but would've been ok with the performance seats (no base seats though). Don't want or need the sunroof and the CCB was only a nice to have. Drivers assistance is nice, but I don't daily so not critical. My only "must have" was (unfortunately) it had to be the auto as my wife can't drive a stick. Thankfully, I've been super impressed by the 10-speed. Coming from the Raptor (which shares the 10-speed GM/Ford co-developed) was was a bit worried (shifts are slow and sloppy in the Raptor) but GM nailed it on the tuning (similar to how BMW has mastered the ZF 8-speed).

Must haves:

--5 Blackwing
--Infrared with second choice Wave
--Carbon backed seats...preferred Tan, but it had Black

Beyond that, I would have been flexible. Wish it had CF1 and CF2. It does have Alcantara steering wheel which I'd prefer not to have.

I'm just very happy and blessed to have it!

  • manual
  • NO sunroof
  • PDR
  • rear camera mirror
  • black wheels

After sitting in a CT4 BW I quickly realized a couple things
- No Sunroof was a must have and having one was a deal breaker. It eats up too much head room and I'm only 5'10". This is especially important if you're going to have people in the back seat like I will, kids.
- High performance seats. Before sitting in them I thought I'd prefer the standard seats. The standard seats you feel you're sitting perched up on tops of the seats and the high performance seats make you feel you're nested down and
- Manual, but I knew that from day one.

My only must haves were MT and sticker. I landed one that had a sunroof. Argent wasn't my first choice (cyber was) and I thought I'd miss the PDR and carbon pieces. After 6 months of angle entry/exit out of every dang driveway, speed bump, etc., I'm kinda glad I don't have to sweat carbon damage.

I sometimes use the roof but having a Miata scratches that itch. I do wish I didn't have it.

Can I ask what the fascination is with the carbon backed seats?

I thought I was by default getting them as part of the CF1/2 package (the online guide isn’t clear that the $8k up charge on the seats is because of the aniline leather *and* the cf backs, I only ordered mid tier). So I was surprised when I went to pick up the car at the dealer and they weren’t there.

But after driving the car for a couple months, I realize: I never see the backs of the front seats. Especially since I tinted the windows.

I think they look cool and I'm not sure, but not many other car companies, if any, (not seat makers) have them. Again, something different than everybody else. Oh, and they improve your laps times.

In 2022, top level seats only came with carbon backs. IIRC, 2023 (or 2024) you could order top level seats and delete the carbon backs. They are not available on the 4BW unless you bought a special edition.
