You have to attend (not just schedule) within 1 year of purchase. If you cannot do it in time you can make an appeal to GM for an extension. Given the date availability issues people should try to start scheduling as soon as purchase to not miss out.

My wife didn't drive but it was ungodly boring for her.

My wife came with me and she took our rental car into Vegas the first day.
Not gambling, just visiting craft shops, secondhand stores, and such things.
Vegas has become a big city and has lots of things to do, whatever your interests.
It’s a bit of a drive to Vegas - about an hour and a half each way if I remember correctly - but better than sticking around and doing nothing.
The second day, she checked us out of the condo and found stuff to do locally for a few hours and then hung out until I was finished.
Oh, and while she had the car I hitched rides with classmates between the building where you take the classes and the clubhouse where you have lunch.

My wife was going to go with me, but changed her mind. Now with the experience done, it was the right choice for her not to join me. She really isn't into cars that much and becoming homeless the second day (check out is 11am) would have been a drag for her.

I intentionally picked a Wed-Thu date because I wanted to have the option to stay for the weekend. The airport in Vegas is literally adjacent to the strip and all the casinos, so a spouse/partner could easily fly in and Uber to a hotel and meet you that night. I stayed at the Mirage on Thursday night and flew home Friday morning. I knew I would want to relax/reflect with some beers and a good meal vs. rushing around returning a rental car, security, and late flights on Thursday. LAS can get very busy and the rental car facility requires a bus ride, so its not super efficient.

I stayed on SM property in one of the condos. It was very nice accommodations.....if you can get them. My wife dropped me off at the classroom, then went for breakfast at the clubhouse. She would use the gym and then go into town to do some shopping with one of the other wives. I only discovered that they had a gun range , when I was leaving. We then stayed in Vegas for 4 days with my cousin who works for Marriott. We stayed in their vacation villa across from Planet Hollywood. Highly recommend catching a Cirque du Soleil show. "Ka" at MGM was awesome to watch. We were able to walk everywhere pretty much.

I concur, hanging out at the track if not driving would be a big snooze. It's a nice facility, the clubhouse (where they serve meals) is nice but there's not much to do, I don't know what the cost is for using the range. I suppose you'd have to rent the gun(s) since it's unlikely that you'll fly in with your own. Pahrump, where SM is located, is a dump.

On my trip to SM I spent the next day in LV and just walked around, shopping, etc. and stayed on EST so I ate dinner at 5 PM and got up at 4 AM, which worked out well my last day since I had a 7 AM flight.

LV is one of those places that you should visit once in your life, but for me personally, once is enough. Kind of like New Orleans.

Thanks for the insight guys. If it's that dull; I'll probably just bring work. I'm not sure about traveling with NFA items so I'll skip the gun range.

While technically I paid for the "free" SM experience, I'd never pay $3500 cash for it. I'd use that $ for some one-on-one instruction at a track near me.

I'm not a Vegas fan boy, but in 2-night doses my wife and I have a good time.

I flew from NY/JFK to Vegas and checked my Sig 9mm with my baggage. It was the first time I had ever flown with a firearm. The process was pretty easy. I just had to have the gun checked at the check-in desk in NY by a Port Authority cop and nobody showed up to check in Vegas. You need to pick up your firearm at the airline concierge desk since it is a designated special item. There was no way I was going to be walking around Vegas without a firearm on me. Some nut case had stabbed 8 people , killing 2 just a few weeks before i arrived.
**Its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
My buddy rented a helicopter that you can shoot a machine gun from , in Vegas. He said it was a blast !

I seem to get to Vegas about once a decade more or less. And as it changes so much over time its probably worthwhile. I also play poker and blackjack...so there is always something for me to do...

I concur about new Orleans (specifically mardis gras)...did it once in '86 and that was enough.

Not sure if my visit was typical...short version is my buddy (a reporter) who I bailed out of jail at 4 Am...well they arrested the wrong guy. His story that went out on the AP wire within an hour (and contributed to) causing both the Governor and Mayor to scramble back to town and deal with the fallout...police & National Guard violence against folks etc. And the cop who arrested my buddy (who was taking pictures of him beating on innocent teenagers)...well he messed with the wrong folks. Another friend there was a Federal Cop and I was working for a Congressional Committee...we warned him...and his Sergent...they didn't listen. They put the NO cop away for 9 years...in part from our testimony...

I have zero ambition in life to go to either New Orleans or Mexico. I am making plans to go to Italy and maybe London this year. But, my reading about London appears to make it like NY City with a British accent. Not too appealing. It also said the weather sucks as does the food and hotel accommodations.

Been to all of the above...and more. London is great...lots to see and do...and you can find good food if you look (and excellent beer). I've been all over England, Scotland and Wales and I'm a big fan of Scotland...Edinburgh is fantastic. We found a temporary apartment in London in a very ritzy area (forgot the name of the place...close to Buckingham palace) that was large and affordable (but its been a few years)

Mexico is varied....can be great fun. We've done the Yucatan a few times and I'd recommend it. Mayan ruins, art and culture, great food etc. Merida, the capitol is a nice town. Good beaches, snorkeling, wildlife areas (think Everglades) and Cenotes (underground caves with water).

Italy too is varied - but almost all great. A stressful place in many ways...particularly driving. Great place if you like great wine and great food and beautiful scenery.... Also a very big fan of both Spain and Portugal...

My 'rents retired to LV from NY in 2001. I go there regularly to visit & I do not gamble (& neither do my 'rents). Someone's recommendation on a Circue show is spot on but best seats are sold well in advance. The Mob Museum, Atomic Museum & Neon Museum (at night) are all worth it as well. The fountains at Bellagio are a sight to behold (esp at night) as is the lobby with the Chihuly glass installation on the ceiling in the lobby & the rotating flower exhibit there (based on whatever holiday it is). For the watch folks -- pretty much all of the big casinos will have a high-end watch store so you can go gawk at & handle some very heady time pieces (Patek, IWC, RIchard Mille, Rolex, etc). Getting off the Strip, I HIGHLY recommend going to Red Rock Canyon &/or Valley of Fire & do some hiking. The rock formations are stunning & depending on time of year, you can see some really cool foliage. Be careful of approaching any Joshua Trees, though, as they are protected in areas controlled by the BLM. If your wife is not interested in cars, have her go to a spa at any of the big casinos & pamper herself. You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to get a spa day. If you like truly authentic Chinese or Korean food (but mostly Chinese), there are any number of awesome restaurants in Chinatown.

Not true. Scheduled mine less than a year after buying and attended 1.5 years after. Didn’t really raise any exception etc.

In Vegas, I went to Zach Bagans Haunted Museum. Not cheap and takes at least 2 hours to see some creepy stuff. Some of the stuff is very disturbing. He even has the bed that Bunny Ranch pimp Dennis Hof died in. No photography allowed and they make you sign a waiver. We also took in a Las Vegas Knights vs. NY Rangers hockey game. Tickets were not cheap for that venue either. Nothing in Vegas is cheap.
